Green Architecture Designs Knowledge Base
Are you interested in green architecture and energy? Would you buy devices to control your power consumption or add green design elements to your house (rooftop garden, water recuperation, heat recuparation system)? 1.Ready to buy. 2.Interested in knowing more. 3.I'm doing it myself. 4.Not interested.
Anyone good sources for Articles About Ecological Architecture ? I am searching for a very good researched artikel on sustainable design and Green Building. I want to get good 2nd hand sources for my thesis in school. Also a good and well known architect hwo is specialized on Green Architecture would be good. Thank You Guys
What career for a person interested in Green ECo-friendly architecture? I am a undecided freshman UCSD considering major options. An interest I have is eco friendly archtecture and alternative building materials. In high school I designed an earth sheltered home and a strawbale home for an Environmental Science class and I found it a lot of fun. What would I major in i were to pursue a career in this field? and what careers are available? I know it is a growing trend as the environment is degrading and i would like to do everything I can to help.
How can I get a job in sustainable building? I'm interested in working with green architecture and design, such as straw bale construction, etc. I have a B.A. in Geologic Sciences and have been working in education for the past five years, so it's a bit of a change. What should I do to get started?
how important do you think green architecture will become? Frank Lloyd Wright has been lauded for his fusion of form and function. His structures are known for blending into the surrounding landscape. Even inside the New York Guggenheim Museum, despite being surrounded with traffic and the busyness of downtown Manhattan, has the feel of being among the pine trees, breathing fresh air, and sunlight. With so much focus on environmental concerns, green architecture is a popular trend. In fact, much of New Orleans, Ninth Ward has been rebuilt with the use of sustainable materials and energy-saving design. As we continue in the twenty-first century, how important do you think green architecture will become? Do you think it will cause us to sacrifice form for function? As you prepare your answer, consider the aesthetic appeal and practical functions of the buildings surrounding you.
How do I make my building designs more self sufficient? I am in my 3rd year of my Architecture class, and we are beginning to design commercial building designs. We were told to make it "green", meaning that they want me to design the building more environmentally friendly. How are some ways I can incorporate the "green" into my designs? (right now, we are designing a dentist office)
Should I double major in architecture and architectural engineering or what? I'm going to college next year, and I really want to consider my major now. I love both math and art, and I figure since architectural engineering is the math side and architecture is the art side, it would be good to do a double major, but I'm afraid it would be too tough. I'm also considering a major or minor in environmental engineering so that I can design "green" buildings. What would be the best choice?
Environmental Designer/Architecture, please help!? I really want to go into Architecture, but understand that it isn't necessarily the best career to head into at this time. However, I recently discovered Green or LEED Architecture, and I have a strong interest in that. What I'd like to know is if Environmental Design and Architecture go together, and if they are related to Green Architecture. If so, would I obtain my Bachelors in Environmental Design, then my masters in Architecture? or how would that work? I want to get my Masters. Thank you!
I am considering a career change and am very interested in Architecture. Do you need to know how to draw? I am very creative but not the best artist out there. I am also interested in Green Eco-Frinedly Design and would love to get into that field. How realistic is it to go from a totally different field and enter architecture. How about schooling? Thank you for your time. I am very creative but not the best artist out there. I am also interested in Green Eco-Friendly Design and would love to get into that field. How realistic is it to go from a totally different field and enter architecture. How about schooling? I have a bachelors in Economics and was thinking about an M.Arch. degree. How important is it to go to an accredited program? Thanks for your time!
This is for anyone who works in the field of "landscape architecture"? i am interested in environmental architectural design, but i was wondering about landscape architecture what are your main responsibilities? what kind of training and education do you need (i am getting my bachelors in a completely different subject so what would graduate school be like, years etc) do you get to design green buildings or just park-like public spaces? what are your responsibilities when you start out, where do you work? do you need a strong math background? what kind of math is essential? thank you
architecture future-going green? i feel like i want to be an architect but people are always saying they dont make much money besides the top like 5-10%, which is a pretty small margin, yet with the environmental issues and aesthetics becoming bigger and more important issues, isnt the future of architecture alot better than it currently is? I mean people back were grateful if they had a roof over their heads, but nowadays, people go for not just houses, but well designed houses, and with global warming an issue, going green is big as well. So do you think theres a bright future for architects? -o and by the way could an architect also be an interior designer?
If you have experience in Architecture...? Hi, I'm looking into the career of Architecture. I'm a first year student in college and I'm taking very basic classes, so I still have the chance to change my mind. Tell me if Architecture is worth going into. I'm looking into Green design a lot, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of the field of Arch in general? How long would it take to complete the degree? Would you recommend it? And by the way, I'm a woman. I hope that doesn't matter.
Are you satisfied about the plans for the World Trade center site? Yes for the most part, I am just sad that the Freedom tower can't be taller. It is supposed to be only 1,776 feet. It is still high for a skyscraper, but not as high as it's competitors. The Freedom tower aint got nothin' on the new 2,650 Burj Dubaiunder construcyion in the UAE [ which is getting closer to completion]. Nor can it compare to the proposed 2,000 foot Chicago Spire. I love the overall architecture of all buildings. The completed 7 World Trade center looks nice and clean, but it is just a light blue box, as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't have much architecture detail that sets it apart from most other buildings in manhattan, despite it's "Green Design". I love the memorial design. It is such a shame they are taking down the Deutche Bank building, because of damage from the collapse, I thing it adds contrast to lower manhattan. Another thing is that it is taking too long too complete. First it takes over 6 years to even start construction and it's going to complete. May I add that that the floor space is not used up to it's potential. The freedom tower is supposed to dwar the 1250ft/102 floor empire state building, but obly have 82 floors.
If architecture is an art why the owner can paint in chocking pink your design? Some days ago I pass a building that was made of exposed concrete (without paint). The owner paint the entire building in an horrible green (mint). Can you imagine a person that buy a Monet paint only to be use as canvas for another paint? In what way are the architects the owners of their desings? r u randy: Can you imagine the Sydney Opera House painted in Yellow or a building of Frank Gehry with the titanium cladding removed? Or what about White House painted in gray.
Parsons The New School For Design Environmental Studies? Senior year is approaching, and college applications loom fairly heavily. I have a strong background in art and the humanities, as well as in environmental science, the second of which i have devoted volunteer work and a prestigious internship at a major museum. I would love to enter sustainable design or green architecture, as the field fascinates me as well as will probably present a wise career move as things begin to hit the fan as far as environmental responsibility goes (just look at the gulf). The downside is i'm not particularly good at math, and have never had much of a mind for numbers. So a degree in environmental studies would address my strengths in the humanities. Since parsons is a great design school, i was curious about their environmental studies program (science at an art school, seems perfect) though i couldn't find any reviews or opinions written by someone who has actually pursued that degree. Could anyone give me some input on their program, or perhaps suggest schools i would possibly find appealing? Thank you for your time
How to design a single storey house in a impressive way? Im an 1st year architecture student. Im designing a timber eco house (a studio cum living room, kitchen cum dining room, toilet and bedroom) for my client which is a green architect (Wong Mun Summ, Singapore). But single storey house is difficult to impress. Any ideas?
Are there any Ghanaian architecture students in S.E. England interested in environmentally-friendly design? I am doing an environmental architecture MSc and am looking for another young architecture student with a fresh imagination interested in low energy/ passive/ bio-climatic buildings and renewable energy to collaborate with on designing an innovative small development in Accra, Ghana. You must be Ghanaian or have lived in Ghana for several years with an extensive knowledge of the climate, geography, nature, local and vernacular architecture. You must also be very interested in building with minimal environmental impact. I am asking this on behalf of a client, motivated by the environment and green issues. Even if you are not studying architecture but are studying in the UK, I would be pleased to meet you- preferably if you are travelling to Accra in the next few months. Possibility of remuneration.
I am looking for designs inspired by paris/france? you know the whole pink/black or seafoam green/black or white/black art. wavy, swirly elegant art. is it called something because i am having one hard to trying to find anything like this, all i can find is architecture. im looking for photos or backgrounds/wallpaper, anything but architecture.
Who is more "green" , Bush or Gore ? Footnote: A Tale of Two Houses House #1: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every 'green' feature current home construction can provide. The house has 4 bedrooms and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet holds geothermal heat- pumps circulating water through pipes sunk 300 feet deep. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses one-quarter of the electricity used by a conventional system. Rainwater is collected in a 25,000-gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks, then into the cistern, from which the garden is irrigated. House #2: A 20-room mansion with 8 bathrooms, a pool and poolhouse, and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs to over $2,400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in the Northern or Midwestern snow-belt. It's in the South. House #1, near Crawford, Texas, belongs to President George Bush. House #2, near Nashville, Tennessee, belongs to Gore.

What do you think about integrating botany/plants into architecture and building design? I think it's jaw-droppingly awesome when you see the rare building with green plants growing on it. I'm not talking like some old house overrun with weeds or something, but when plants have somehow been integrated into the actual design or aesthetic of the building, whether on the roof, inside, around, or on the walls of it. Aside from any of the reasons people might come up with for why it's good for the environment yatta yatta, it just looks really awesome. Cities NEED more green, so why not use the spaces we got to grow more green stuff? Buildings can be like templates for new and weird urban foliage, a shift away from all the typical hard grays, blacks, and whites of the concrete jungle.
Would someone with a major in " City, Community, and Regional Planning " be able to get a job in Architecture? this is what is says about City, Community, and Regional Planning at collegeboard.com; You may have heard of the term urban sprawl. Urban sprawl refers to the uncontrolled growth of cities and suburbs. The typical results: traffic congestion, a lack of green or open spaces, poorly designed or nonexistent public transportation, and unhappy residents. City, community, and regional planners address urban sprawl and other problems that communities face, such as pollution. Planning majors learn about the principles of architectural design and how to use them to create communities in which people are proud to work and live. They explore such topics as affordable housing, public transportation, land use and zoning, economics, and environmentally friendly buildings.
Which Engineering Focus should I choose.? So the first thing you should know about me is that I can adapt myself to almost any of the engineering fields. I've done robotics, computers, electronics, structural design, and a bit of architecture & interior design. Well, I just graduated last week today and signed up for my general engineering courses at USI, where I may later transfer to IUPUI. (since there isn't really a focus until year 3). So, I'm having trouble deciding which focus I should major in, because it seems like everyone wants to do computer engineering, and mechanical engineering feels like mostly drafting and less problem-solving. I want to try to land a career that is modern, cutting-edge, but stable and something I can "climb the corporate ladder" in. Like: Green/Passive home design (products, materials, architecture) Consumer electronics engineering Aerospace engineering Computer hardware/software design. Game Engine Design/programming (not as stable, but more fun) So does anyone have any tips, experience, or suggestions to help me decide? Thanks! Thanks for the clarification, Max! That may actually sway my decision.
Can you guess which of these two house belong to the environmentalist? HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern “snow belt,” either. It’s in the South. HOUSE # 2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house contains 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on an arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape. HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore. HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as “the Texas White House,” it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
Whats the perfect name for an architecture school next to the sea? its a building at a corner lot and the design is sortof sculptural and green at the same time, hope u guys can suggest names! well, i wont be exactly specific. the frontage is the straits of malacca overlooking singapore. theres always a strong breeze which makes u feel alive. the building itself is a 13 storey building intergrated with modern facades which interact with the wind. so basically its not the regular static type of facades u get from other buildings. i guess thats it. cant think of anything more. maybe a name that the students would be proud of. cathcy and nice to hear.
Green card To USA With National Diploma? I want to study in the USA, but if I got a student visa (F-1), then i wouldn't be able to work outside of campus for the first academic year, then after that i would have to work with something related to my studdies (which would be architecture). I have a national diploma in 3D design from the UK, which is the equivilant to 3 A Levels. Would I be able to get any job with those qualifications to apply for a Green Card, then after a year, start college and pay in-state tuition and be able to become a permenant resident? Thanks in advance
Where can I find this? So my teacher is helping me get into an internship right now. Here is what we are doing. This student, also designed a 4H website for our Art, Nature, & gardening/ environmental Club. He wants to go into architecture (Home & Residential Design) and has shown me some of his designs. I intend to have him: 1.Research and submit the requirements for a Historical Building to "Go Green". 2.Our Assistant principal will then see about getting the building plans to Landis School and this student will attempt to come up with a "Go Green" proposal for Landis. 3.The final assignment will be for him to design a Landis-Like house that is designed with 'Green" technology. We are hoping to possibly get an architect to take him in on a modified internship program. Where can I find online the requirements for a historical building to "Go green"?
Question about an internship? ANY ANSWERS PLEASE? This student, also designed a 4H website for our Art, Nature, & gardening/ environmental Club. We are hoping to possibly get an architect to take him in on a modified internship program. So I am going to work as an architect in home/residential design, and was approached by a teacher with what I wrote above. Would an internship pay, and will it help me get into technical school? I already know how to do blueprints and read blueprints, etc, and here is one I have designed. http://www.flickr.com/photos/68194000@N07/6449955351/in/photostream Anyway, how much would I get paid on an internship, and will this help me get into technical school and college, i'm ion 8th grade.
What do you think of this possible internship? This student, also designed a 4H website for our Art, Nature, & gardening/ environmental Club. What architecture schools should I look into? A little about me: GPA (weighted): 3.7ish Class rank: guessing top 20% Honors English and Spanish. AP courses, 3 years of Computer-Aided-Design. I'm in NHS, a peer leader, work part-time, FBLA, interact, disciples club. Cross Country is my main sport. Plenty of community service. Involved in my parish. I'm white. I live in New Jersey but I'm willing to travel. My SAT will probably look something like this: Reading 600, Math 650. I want a school that is attractive. (A lot of green) I don't want huge class sizes. I'm not into sports too much. I have an interest in Urban Design too. I may be a little picky, but I really am on a search to find the perfect school for me. Also, please don't just give me rankings. I really want to know what architecture schools really pop out when you were reading my information above. OK thank you for answering.
going green and building a tiny house? I am interested in going as green as possible and building a house similar to the Tumbleweed Tiny Houses. I don't want to buy their set of plans when I want to make my own design. Are there any good websites, books etc on easy portable architecture? I'm really just interested in the materials I'll need and what-not, so it doesn't fall down. I've never done construction by my grandfather was a master woodworker and architect, any I am pretty good at building things, it's in my blood. So, where do I start? http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/

is urban planning a good field to get into? I just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Design. I'm a LEED Accredited professional and extremely interested in the built environment as well as green design and solutions. While a masters in Architecture with a concentration in sustainability seems to be the perfect combination, yet exploring relative domains that are a bit less demanding seems more realistic for a mother of 2. I am currently contemplating the masters of science in regenerative studies as well as the masters of urban and regional planning, both offered at Cal Poly Pomona. Please advice about the field of urban planning, related jobs, demand and salaries. Does it seem to be the right field for my interest? Thanks much for any attempt to help.
Architecture? Anyone? I have a project we gotta do... and it's to design a restaurant and a clubhouse for the military... the officers and the soldiers... my concept is focusing mainly on green, sustainable buildings.... i looked at ken yeang's work.. VERY inspirational... can ne one help?

Or should I just have a conversation for a while and leave?
how can i show the architectural side of a power plant? I’m an architecture student and we are task to design an industrial building that is green (sustainable building), what comes to my mind is a solar power plant, but I don’t know how I’m going to start, I don’t know the space program for a power plant and I think designing an industrial building is more of engineering and does not show more of the architectural side...Still don’t have an idea how to start and how can I show the architectural side of it….hope you can help me.. Thanks in advance

What was life like back when my great-grandmother was a teenager? She was born in 1909, so she's 102 now and she keeps on going on about her life when she was young and how those days were "very romantic", until it all changed in the 1920's or something but still cinema back then was "golden" and so on...but what was life actually like when my grandmother was a child in the late 10's? I've gotten curious, I've never really listened when she told me when I was a kid in the 90's and early 2000's and I don't listen when I visit her now, but now that's got me a bit curious, what was her life actually like in the late 10's and early to mid-20's? And what "changes" that she keeps on going on about that happened in the mid 20's? She says her life changed when she was a teen and she started having some feelings of nostalgia for the "romantic times" of her childhood? What were the changes? And what was life like for her in the 10's and 20's? Just how different were the two eras. She says she wishes she was born slightly earlier, in 1900 or something, so she could have lived her teenage years in the golden, "romantic". But she says the 20's were better than after, especially when things got vastly different in the 50's and 60's and now she says she has a real yearning for the 10's again, and how beautiful they were. I still don't get what she means by "golden" and "romantic" and how different the feel was and even how different the fashion, architecture, interior designs, furniture and her possessions were. She still has a broken mirror from then which looks scary because of it's design but she adores it, and she also has other stuff too like really old faded photographs and when she was on holiday in Paris. Her mum's hair was frightening. And their dresses. And she also still has a dress from back then which she always takes a look at, and it's basically a white dress with some green and yellow with lace and detailed embroidery, but it's stained. It was from when she was ten, apparently, and it was designed especially for her. She has a broke silk shawl to go with it too, but it's ripped. She says her mum also had a kimono.
How much can an architect make? I understand that the question is rather general, but I felt it may be somewhat sufficient for a subject. Half of the questions asked regarding architecture have been a bit naive or just flat out ridiculous. I love architecture, granted at times it does get a bit upsetting when hearing of the stress, endless hours of work, lack of recognition and horrible pay, but I've heard the end result along with the final product makes it worth while. My question is how much can an individual pursuing a career in architecture make? I'm currently at a University studying architecture in my undergrad. I've been around the block, and have understood that my program is not professional, and in order to get a job I must complete the masters program in architecture. In the time being I have also enrolled in a college for architectural technician diploma program, and have been doing some CAD certifications. What is the difference, in job description and salary, for an architect, CAD technician, architectural technician and architectural technologist? I'm looking at every avenue to further my knowledge and experience to be able to be successful once I am out of school. With regards to my academic pursuits, I wish to complete my Hon. B.A at my university, move onto Masters of Architecture, complete my diploma in either Architectural technician/technology (one is 2 years the other is 3 years) and complete some CAD certifications (AutoCAD, Revit, etc). I'm hoping to pursue a career in architecture, but one with regards to sustainable design, green building, etc. Just curious to know what to expect.
in architecture office: 3d a-cad modeling is used as basis for design and only then, on to 2d drawings? I graduated 10 years ago and haven't worked in an office since then. I am picking up my career again and want to arrive not so green to an office as an entry-level employee. In ten years much has happened in autocad [and the way it is used in an office...], and I wonder where to focus my knowledge of the [autocad tool] so that I have an idea already of how the process works from 3d to 2d etc. So, is the model understood more as a -sales/rendering and measure ratification tool, or is it now more used as, [the basic draft] from which detailed plans are later drawn. I have taken courses on autocad -lately, they have been very useful, but they focus on the commands etc, and not on how are they used in such a situation--- self help books are not really helpful either. thanks for the answers
Could someone please give me some advice for my college major decision? If I want to go into sustainable architecture, would it be better to get a B.S. in Arch now and then pursue a M. arch in the future with a focus on environmental design or the other way around (get a B.S. with a double major in environmental studies and studio arts & theory - a liberal arts major- now, then apply for graduate school to get a M. Arch) ? Also, my university, UM- Ann Arbor, does not offer a professional B. Arch Degree. It only offers a pre-professional B.S. arch degree...after which I would need to go to grad school for 2.5-3 yrs. to get a M Arch professional degree...so both ways would probably take about the same amount of time. If anyone out there is in the field of "green" architecture, do you have any advice as to how I could best build up a solid knowledge base to go into this field? Also, is it a bad idea to have two interdisciplinary majors?? I see some people here say that these majors are for people who are lazy or unfocused and that they have many "easy" classes...but I see different subjects to be interlinked and not strictly specialized, and I am definitely not a lazy person. I am a honors sophomore with a 4.0 even after taking all the most failed courses at UM in math, physics, and economics. I have also worked hard for my sustainability/ beautification student forum to put environmental solutions in action and have designed several murals for UM buildings...I chose my majors and put a lot of work into my extracurriculars, because I love what I do, not because I am some unfocused student going to college just for the sake of going to college...But I am afraid that just because I have this label as someone with an arty interdisciplinary major, employers will see me as a lazy, unfocused person...and maybe it would be better to just go for the very specialized course in architecture now instead of leaving that for grad school? Kitten UM has an undergrad Architecture school that is ranked 6th in the nation by US News and Report and a grad Arch program that is ranked in the top 10.I do not consider it a waste of money. My concern is not primarily the time, because even if I get a professional B Arch now, I am still going to get an M.S. in environmental design...I'm trying to decide whether majoring in something else now will give me a better, more diverse knowledge base for architecture rather than learning technical skills right away. I want to make a real impact on the world. I considered transferring to Cornell, but I believe UM gives a better preparation for arch as a form of engineering. Cornell is a bit more arty, which is VERY appealing to me, but I feel I should learn more engineering too. Finally, I plan on applying to grad programs at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UM, etc. I did research and a lot of the programs I liked are tough to get into so I want to make sure that Interdisciplinary is a good choice.
Spawned from the last post. Who has the loudest Fans/stadium in the NFL? From what I understand Qwest Field (Seattle) is the loudest because of the design. It was engineered that way. They only seat 68000 compaired to FEDEX (Wash) 92,000. Here is my top 3. Fedex = Skinz = Largest capacity Arrowhead = Chiefs = only thing in KC to cheer for other then BBQ Quest = Seahawks = By Architecture design What are your top 3? Explain your answers. I dont care if your home stadium sells out every year for the past 100 years big deal. FEDEX sells out and are sold out for the next 10 and pack in 92000 people. So campared to Green Bay, if we do the math the difference would be 20000 to the skins. 20k is louder then 0. Also they cant yell that loud their jaws are frozen shut. RFK Was louder then fedex becuase of all the twisted metal noise when everyone jumped in the stands.
which of these would you prefer to live in? 1. a high rise residential condominium that supports a green architecture/lifestyle -a unit in the 7th floor with good view with your own garden balcony -parking spaces -flexible/roomy room configurations -24 hour security -clubhouse/park amenities (public and are open to all residents) -commercial establishments at the ground floor with services (like laundry daycare etc.) -with built in transport (bus/train) station -less privacy because there are more neighbors/residents 2. a house that is detached -your OWN detached house but is slightly farther away from commercial establishments/public transportation -even bigger room space than condo units -own backyard -own garage -freedom in designing the exterior of the house -better privacy because there are less people/neighbors than high density housing -less urban and more quiet neighborhood ---if you can, please indicate the country where you live ---and what are the characteristics you like or look for in a house or a condominium (pro's and con's)
Is GPA rough to work around for success? By the age of 7 I had many of the concepts of structural design and integrity fluid in my mind. By the age of 8, I was said by my psychologists to have a HS sophomore level in logic and mathematics, and I was learning electronic circuitry and soldering. By 10, I was learning digital electronics and computer software and OS configurations, and built my first computer before leaving elementary school. I'm NOT saying this to brag or be obnoxious. I'm saying it because I was failing some of my courses at the time with teachers saying I wasn't going to amount to anything in life. I also have ADD, if that even means anything any more. The same holds true in College. I scored within the MIT average in mathematics on the SAT, yet struggled to manage a 3.0 in HS. I'm watching as people I knew moved away to Purdue, Rose-Hulman, and Harvard on glorious scholarships because of their valedictorian and academic honors statuses. I'm at a small local school, though I preferred this, without a cent of scholarship and almost had to drop due to financial issues, despite working summers and during school. While this was one of my most rough semesters in college, my GPA was down to 2.8 (slightly higher for cumulative), and now I'm hearing employers in professional trades don't even look at people below 3.0? I can get it there, but some of the most talented and respectable people I know would be having similar difficulties. Is this how it's going to be from here on? I know employers look at other aspects, but I'm sick of all the opportunities I've missed by being 'just not good enough'. And I know I 'shouldn't be comparing myself to other people', but employers will. Employers compare everyone directly alongside everyone else. What can I do prove myself, get my name out there? I'm wanting to work in green architecture, aerospace engineering, acoustical engineering, computer animation, computer engineering, or whatever else, but I'm worried I'll come off as sub-par on one of the most eye-catching stats to show up on a resume.
Is the following an "inconvenient truth" about Al Gore? House #1 A 20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms heated by natural gas. Add on a pool ( and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in the South. ~~~ House #2 Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on an arid, high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F. ) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape. HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the "environmentalist" Al Gore. HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush. Links below back up the facts of the 2 houses. http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/arti... http://www.cowboysindians.com/articles/a... An "inconvenient truth" about Al Gore, or what? Noah, come on, man. Gore just won a Nobel Prize for something he doesn't practice. How does "shooting the messenger" fit here? He shot himself. And as far as wind power, California tried to put some more windmills in besides the ones in Indio, and the locals shot 'em down because of the lubricant dropping from the propellers and the noise pollution from them. Speaking of lubricant, how does wind power make us less dependent on oil? Machines have to be oiled. I won't charge you the dollars, but I like my donuts glazed, by the way.

Modern Residential Architecture...What is your opinion? Do urban planners have no flare anymore like the Victorians did? Why are most new build developments a labyrinth of dull flimsy looking clones. I don't mean the master pieces of Richard Rogers etc but the ghastly modern estates mushrooming up all over the country. Will people look back in 100 years time and cringe at this period of design with the same contempt as they do now at the horrid 60's high rise apartment blocks ? Why can't we build magnificent solid white pillared terraced mansions anymore with a modern twist. Is creative brickwork, tall ceilings a thing of the past? Surely it cannot always be down to cost and being green ?
Is this true? And if it is, what are your takes on it? House #1: A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms), heated by natural gas. Please read an excerpt of my new novel and leave any critical feedback? Excerpt: Evil Hiding in the Light Loe had not ventured past his front door alone for some time; he had a sense of foreboding as he tramped up the uncommonly still high street. He could feel the shadow of the capacious building to which he was heading for fall over him. From the outside the edifice appeared somewhat antediluvian, despite this Loe admired the architecture and design. The building appeared to be significantly Renaissance; the main doors had square lintels but were set in a fabulous semi-circular arch. This place was different to others in the town of its age, with its symmetry and straight edges; about town you would see turrets and crenellations atop the skyline. The walls had an ashlar finish Loe could see, smooth but with small grooves as though they had been combed, perhaps they had he thought. He noticed the pattern of rectangles at the corner of the building as he encroached upon it, quoins he recalled from his schooling, he could see how they wrapped around the corner joining the walls. Loe stood outside of the library at the foot of the stairs, feeling almost lacking. He surmised that he looked tousled, and paused for almost a minute before taking his first step upward, towards the entrance. Upon reaching the top of the stairs Loe could see through glass windows in the doors that there was a vestibule, and that its walls were spangled with flyers advertising various competitions and classes and self-help groups. Loe believed he had found what he had come looking for and he had not yet had to speak with anyone. Loe stood aside as the door opened and a dear old man stepped out beyond him, smiling as he went, he carried a hessian carry bag that was evidently loaded with books. Loe entered, eyeing the wall he read “Self esteem for women” there was to be a class at the local primary school this very evening. He saw a blue flyer offering a cash prize for a writing competition, the subject was water. His attention was then caught by the words “Social Vaccine” emblazoned upon a small piece of card. The card posed the question “Are we in control of our own lives?” Loe thought that this may be a lead to helping him understand just what he was going through, he saw no phone number, no location or date of a meeting, Loe picked the card from the wall first removing the yellow headed pin and then replacing it, and to his relief no other flyers fell. He knew now that he was going to have to question the librarian, in search of how and if he could attend this “Self-help therapy class”. Loe suddenly began to feel timid, as though his performance in making this routine query would somehow be below par, that they would laugh him out of the building. His mouth went dry and panic gripped his very being, he could feel his face begin to tic uncontrollably, putting his hands to his forehead he covered both of his eyes and slouched forward against the wall, clawing at the display he had considered only moments ago. At once the librarian from behind the counter nearest to the door made her way to Loe, she had watched as he fell against the wall and had become bothered, she was there to help after all and although this was perhaps beyond her call of duty she was a mother and felt compelled to help. Loe looked up to his left and was flummoxed to see a fifty something woman wearing blue and white striped men’s pyjamas, pink fluffy slippers and bed cap rushing towards him. Loe let out a burst of laughter, straight from his stomach. He folded in two like a deckchair and lost his footing, he had become hallucinatory. The librarian bent down over the unhinged man before her and proffered her arm to him. Loe could feel the flannel of her pyjamas against his skin, this was no reverie. He took her arm and slowly regained his posture; he looked into her restful green eyes anxiously, and became untroubled in an instant. He followed her without hostility through the inner door past the front desk, down the corridors of books. He was a step or two behind her and held onto the tail of her shirt with his fingers gently, no words passed between them, Loe knew that he could trust her, although he did not know why. Stopping at a door, the lady in the pyjamas slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled out a key fob, she stroked it over the sensor beside the door and it clicked open. She turned and motioned to Loe for him to follow her he did as she gestured, still silently the librarian led him to a comfortable looking room, he looked beyond her and could see four soft armchairs, in the immediate left corner of the room was a sink, a kettle and a fridge, he could see a cupboard, and a pile of women’s magazines, they all appeared to be open to the puzzle page. Loe took a seat.

Can anyone help me by giving your opinion on my paragraph? In this paragraph I am talk about my visit the UMD school of Architecture and I fell in love it. I’ve read several articles about the University of Maryland going “green” and the School of Architecture professors teaching method of designing more energy efficient structure. What drew me to becoming an Architect major was how bad the economy was and if by rethinking the design process of recycling materials to build new structure and change water system such as, Graywater system, it can start repairing the economy a bit more. While walking the around the Architecture build I saw just that and more creative ideas. Another thing I saw was some of the classes were pretty small for a college size. I’ve had some class before in high school and college and I believe it can be effective because I can receive more attention from the professor, thus help me get an idea of the thinking process of designing a structure.

Name this Architectural style Please!? Have you ever been into a Tommy Bahama store? How about a Hollister store? I like the way both of these stores decorate the interior. Tommy Bahama has more of a warm feel with a lot of decorative wood trim and light green colors, i call that style "old world florida". Hollister is more dark, dim lighting, painted wood flooring, small octagon tile flooring and dark stained wood shutters all around the inside. Can anyone tell me exactally what style of design or architecture this is? Alot of people tell me things like "beach", "florida", "Key West", "So-Cal", but I can never find anything on those styles that look like what i want. Please Help. Im building a house and i have just sat down with an architect and I was wanting to combine both of these styles and have my architect come up with something but I dont know how to describe it to him, niether can i find any referance material for him to look at. Thanks RaceReed
I want to join a band and hopefully make it big someday, but i have a problem.? Okay so, I just turned 17 in January and most of my life i have been struggling to figure out what i want to do. I know i want to be famous and i want to be a guy people want to be around and pay to see. I used to act and i can sing fairly well, i am also a good director and have been told i can have a great future in set design and architecture, i want to do something that will make me big and hopefully known. I want to say i will do watever it takes but there is something holding me back, im kind of shy and a little insecure. During the past few years i have focused on singing and have been in a few school musicals and gotten pretty decent parts. Recently i have been singing some songs by Hedly and Green Day and stuff and i think i am pretty good at them. I think with some work i can be great. So i live in Calgary Alberta Canada and have been looking online at some Ads for bands looking for singers. Curently i am at a boarding school on the other side of the country but next year i am going to a new highschool for my grade 12 year aswell so i can maybe "reinvent myself" and break out of my shy shell a bit. I am going to make a myspace page and upload a few of my vocal covers so when i respond to these bands ads they can see what i have to offer. I know how hard this industry is to get into and i know how hard indie bands struggle and that i am too young already to be able to get a "big break" (especially in alberta canada). I just have a problem with shyness and insecurity. I am saying now that i will e-mail these guys record these covers and make this myspace page...but theres something inside me that is doubting myself and i know that i may not do this because i will be to nervouse and insecure. I know i might have something and i may be able to make something of it but i have a bit of trouble getting the courage and motivation to do it. How can i get myself more motivated and courageous and what steps should i take to become recognized?

whats the difference between a Landscape Designer and Landscape Architect.? So I'm curious about the differences between Landscape Architecture and Landscape Design. My university offers a Degree in Landscape Design and Management and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. I'm only asking this b/c I an Architecture major and we recently did a project in which there was alot of landscape design involved which I really enjoyed. I LOVE Arch. I'm pretty good at it. Its just that I'm sort of undecieded as to whether I should stick to regular Arch. and obtain my B.ARCH degree and wonder what if. Or change my major to landscape design or what have you. Just note that all are very time consuming and I have no time to minor. How much would one in each profession normally make with and w/o expirience (coming right out of school)? I'm not in this for the money, though I love plants and was born with a green thumb. How great do your drawing skills need to be? I'm better at technical drawings rather than free hand. Please, no Wikipedia definitions.
Al Gore & his Nobel Peace Prize - Ironic or what? (Please Read)? You can check this out on Snopes.com under "The Story of Two Houses". House #1 A 20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms ) heated by natural gas. House #2 Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. ~~~~~ HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the "environmentalist" Al Gore. HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush. An "inconvenient truth". Shelly: I am not being hateful, I am just putting the truth out there. Why don't you wake up, go have a cup of coffee. I didn't go search for this info, it was sent to me in an e-mail. Putting the truth out there is not being hateful and if you think it is then sounds like you have a little problem.

Could you add your suggestions for the crisis in Haiti? Dear Yahoo Friends… If this suggestion offends or runs counter to your beliefs, it was not intended to do so. It is simply thoughts put to paper…in search of solutions. If you would like to participate, add your suggestions. Please, no thumbs down for once. The situation in Haiti is being described as a humanitarian crisis. It is beyond that; it is a human tragedy that will only perpetuate unless radical measures are taken. There is simply no infrastructure in Haiti that can rebuild in a way that the populace can grow and thrive. Since the earthquake hit, my thought has been that the United Nations needs to get the best of the best from the fields of demolition and removal, architecture, government, hospital design and equipment, education, sustainable economy, roads, water support, and education (and the myriad of departments I have omitted) to go into Haiti, tear everything down, and start from scratch. Create manageable and safe neighborhoods and towns; buildings that are architecturally sound; “green” energy sources—the location is perfect, and teach how to govern. This is not nation building if done by the international community. It is creating a backdrop for possibility. It’s too late for these people? They have too many decades of poverty and graft? Never say never. You would be amazed what can be done when the heart is right and good minds work in concert. This morning on NPR one of the commentators said that Haiti can only rise the ashes if the international community intervenes. So there are obviously many among us billions who have conceptualized this intervention. Are you familiar with the Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon? Any one of us could be that crucial hundredth one that creates the point of nuclear fission for human consciousness. http://www.spiritual-endeavors.org/peace/the-hund.htm Great answers all--from prayer to providing mother's milk to nursing infants. I checked out http://www.mercycorps.org/ and they look like a great organization. I gave to Unicef and Habitat for Humanity, but I will also donate to Mercy Corps. Former Presidents Clinton and Bush also appear to have an efficient means to getting aid to the people. I will send them something also. Thank you all. I think the suggestion that the international community declare Haiti a disaster area and rebuild is what offers longterm hope for the people of Haiti, so I will go with that answer for BA.

A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into u nderground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape. ~~~~~ HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of 'environmentalist ' Al Gore. HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States , George W. Bush. An 'inconvenient truth.' And, yes ... I DID check Snopes prior to forwarding it. You can verify it at: http://www.snopes And for people like Roman Candle since apparently he can't read the question is for global warming fanatics if the shoe fits and if it doesn't then it isn't addressed to you For the person calling himself Mogollon Dude the question isn't about global ARMING it isn't a question of national defense either. I am just saying it doesn't seem like Al Gore is living what he preaches. Which seems to bring to ones mind that yea it is all about money not because there is a real problem. I mean come on people if you really believed something you were saying you would be living it and he oviously isn't. Even though he could.

Help proofreading ....Thank you for us help!? This paper is due in a few hours i 'll appreciate ur help. just check if everything makes sense I also noticed that there were two languages clearly expressed in many projects. These languages were layers and skins. I was shocked when saw the very first project in the graduate studios section. It was a huge part of a city done by layers. Thousands of layers were put together one by one until have a rectangular city plan. It was very interesting because the students communicate architecture using a simple material as paper. There was another design that caught my attention because of the use of layers. In this case the student combined two materials in the models giving making more notable the layers. The design was about a huge place similar to a shopping center having a lot of green areas and what it make it special was it location. It was in the middle of a city. brotherrr........ thank u for help me I didnt send you the file because i finished this morning and thought it was too late to send it to you. it's due this afternoon God bless you
Under Floor heating system; do you have experience installing / finding an expert on the korean system? I am considering installing a heating system while designing a new house with some greener & cost efficient building materials. And I'm gathering info on people with some knowledge here before goggling on until my but is tired. Any help is dearly appreciated. Wikipedia... An Ondol, also called Gudeul, in Korean traditional architecture, is underfloor heating which utilizes direct heat transfer from wood smoke to the underside of a thick masonry floor. In modern usage it refers to any type of underfloor heating, or a hotel or sleeping room in Korean (as opposed to Western) style. Where I live, it is common for most households to have a small mettal chomeney to cook and heat the house; and the suply of lumber / as fuel is plenty, so it souds viable to adapt the traditional korean system... What are the chances of the following succeeding? January 18, 2008 8:31 AM PST Masdar City in Abu Dhabi to lay claim to greenest city Posted by Martin LaMonica The cleanest city in the entire world will take root next month in Abu Dhabi, a place best known for its oil. At the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, a model of Masdar City is scheduled to be unveiled on Monday. The three-day conference is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co.'s Masdar Initiative, which is investing in a range of ventures, including clean-tech start-ups. An artist's rendering of the overall plan of Masdar City. A model will be unveiled Monday. (Credit: Masdar) In February, Masdar (which means "the source" in Arabic) will break ground on the six-square-kilometer city that its backers say will be the first zero-pollution, zero-waste city. The city will be capable of housing 47,500 people, who are scheduled to start moving there in 2009. Construction is expected to take 10 years. The vision of the city, designed by Foster and Partners, is to be a model for sustainable architecture. A solar-photovoltaic power plant will deliver energy to buildings. Builders also envision using solar canopies that provide shade, as well as power. A vision of Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. (Credit: Foster and Partners) The city will be placed to take advantage of the cool sea breezes, while a perimeter wall around the entire city will protect buildings from the hot desert air and noise from the nearby Abu Dhabi airport. No cars will be allowed in the city. People will get around through an electric light-rail system that will be linked to the center of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. A desalination facility will be 80 percent more efficient than existing plants, and all wastewater will be purified and recycled to grow plants that could be used for biofuels. Masdar City will be the home of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, which backers hope will attract some of the best academics from the around the world. Also envisioned are research and development facilities from multinational companies and start-ups in the clean technology area. Topics: Green buildings, Solar What chances does something like this have of succeeding?
Why do alsmost all houses around me have 1 stained glass window? I live in concord NH and almost every house has the same exact window that faces west, it is a clear rectangle in the middle with red and green stained glass border even my apartment has one. they are REALLY old buildings. most of them were massive one family homes that are now duplexes. I think it might be because the same guy might have designed all the houses but they are all different styles and different architecture. does it have a religious meaning? was there a huge cult in my city in the past?
Can someone help me come up with a cool tattoo Idea? Well, I just turned 18, and I really wanted to get a tattoo. But not sure what to get it off, I liked the idea of a blue Phoenix as i have been reborn. I am very cute and I love to laugh, but i was/am overweight and I am losing it, and gaining muscle. So I wanted it to symbolize my rebirth, and I wanted it to be a bird, bc my parents are over baring and control every aspect of my life, but I have still managed to overcome them and have my own personality. I was also thinking something aztec/mayan like, since i have a mexican heritage. like a winged serpent. Here is some more info about me: I am 18 y/o male teen, 6’0”, 221 lbs, Blue-green eyes, and somewhat curly brown hair with natural highlights, growing it out a bit. Next year I will b going to college to major in Architecture I love to draw, make sculptures from clay and other materials, i enjoy fashion/interior/architectural design, dancing, cooking and gardening. I have to say my favorite is gardening, and I love orchids, and dancing, like reggaeton and hip-hop. I also want to learn Italian, and I love to travel. I can also speak fluent Spanish. I dress in a mixture of preppy clothes like A&F, and scene, but I am more on the preppy side. I am funny and I love to have fun, I have a nice smile, and when I am happy my face and eyes get a nice glow. I like the name Ángel, bc in Spanish it is a guy’s name and in English/Spanish it means an angel. My fav color is blue, then green, then brown. Thanx for the help. Ps: if you have pics of examples I would greatly appreciate it. and i was thinking of placing it on my front/hip, like flying towards my belly botton, but please location is also important. oh yeah and i want it in a place that cannot be seen when ur wearing a sleeveless hirt and shorts. so not on the legs/arms/neck. Thanx again
Are men naturally more artistically creative than women? Are men naturally more artistically creative than women? People are always saying how women are more in touch with their emotions, express emotions better, etc. But, I can't think of a more humanly ingenius form of emotional expression, than the arts. And, virtually all artforms today and throughout history are & have been dominated by men. Painters/Sculpters - Impressionists like Van Gogh and Monet. Renaissance painters like Da Vinci and Michaelangelo. Modern pop artists like Andy Warhol & Keith Haring. And even today, in a post-feminist world where women now have more opportunities than men -- men still dominate painting, with artists like Shepard Fairey, graffiti artists like Saber, Banksy, Retna, Mear, Cope2, etc. Architecture - Take a look at this site, of the greatest 20th-century architects & building designers. http://architect.architecture.sk/ ALL MEN. And the top architects today are all men. Don't say "women don't have opportunities" because a woman is more likely to go to college than a man. So, even with the advantage & privilege society gives women, men still dominate. Acting/Theater - The top-10 paid actors in the world: Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, Leonardo Dicaprio, Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler, Nicolas Cage, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell. As you can see, no women made the list. The top producers, directors, and writers are also men. The creative geniuses behind the vast majority of movies, TV shows, and theatrical plays you see are men. Fashion - Yes, even fashion. Although this industry caters mainly to women, the brains and top designers behind most of these lines are men. Firstly, most women's clothing was originally invented by men (and at one time, originally worn by men). My girlfriend has her own fashion blog, where she talks about all the latest fashions. And I notice that at least half of all the women's fashions she features about on her blog are clothing items designed by men. The list of top fashion designers are as follows: Yves St. Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein, Russell Simmons, Marc Ecko, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Sean Combs, Hugo Boss, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Salvatorre Ferragamo, Guccio Gucci, Dov Charney Music - Virtually all music genres are dominated by men. Everyone from classical masters of Beethoven, Bach, & Mozart, to rock bands like Aerosmith, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, & Metallica, to Hip Hop artists like Jay-Z, Ludacris, LL Cool J, Run-DMC, 2Pac, & KRS-One, to Soul/R&B greats of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, etc... other genres dominated by men: Jazz, Blues, Country, Techno, Heavy Metal, Reggae, Funk, Disco, Salsa, Reggaeton. The best-selling album of all time is "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. And besides the artists & lead singers being dominated by men, most of the backup musicians that play instruments are male. And I can venture in to other artforms, like magicians, circus performers, dance, etc. -- all where men dominate. And I know one of the feminist responses will be "yeah but women didn't have access to the schooling/instruction that men had to learning the mediums, etc." You do realize that many of these men were self-taught geniuses? Beethoven did not have a teacher or go to any schools. Da Vinci was also self-taught. Rappers do not go to "rap school" either. If we were to assume that women & men are equal when it comes to artistic creativity, then we should've seen just as many self-taught female geniuses as we do male geniuses, without schooling. But we don't. Are males more artistically creative than women? scottishguy: Exactly! As I said before, women now have more opportunity and privilege than men... more women are going to school and are encouraged to go to school. Yet, they are still behind men in the "real world" despite all of this. And men actually score higher on SAT's than women, for the record. Capone: Yes, but eccentricity amongst artists is not exclusive to men. The women that are brilliant in these fields tend to be eccentric as well. Dracula: LOL@ Paris Hilton. Please tell me you're not serious. She's not an "artist". She's a heiress socialite & bimbo, that got famous for giving a guy a blowjob. Oprah is also not an artist, she's a talk show host and a business mogul. Half of your list is of people I've never heard of. But, you should read "The Mrs." post. She said that feminists would begin to list artists -- but for every female artist you list, I can list 10 or more. And all 10 males will be greater artists than the one female artist you listed. So what's your point? Oh yeah the top comedians are male too. Forgot about that one. Men are funnier than women. Dracula: Rap is an art. It takes skill and is a form of expression. You just never really tried listening & understanding it. Kate: Tommy Hilfiger, Puff Daddy and Dov Cheney have multi-million dollar companies. I consider them serious fashion moguls. Donatella's relationship with Gianni is why she became known. She used his name (literally) to get to where she is. And, Yves St. Laurent has been far more influential than Coco Chanel. You said "Gianni is dead", but what difference does it make? So is Coco Chanel. NEXT. Dracula: Oprah is more known for her businesses and show than her acting. Yes, she did do some acting bits, but, if you were to just focus on that -- she is not considered one of the "top" actors in Hollywood. She hasn't done enough to be considered that. As far as Paris Hilton -- I didn't know being in reality TV made you an "artist". She's mainly famous for being a heiress & socialite; her "artist" ventures like that failed pop-album are considered side-ventures. Spuddy: I never once said anyone "invented" fashion. Find where I supposedly said this. I said most of the most notable fashion designers have been men. Are you assuming I know nothing about fashion because I'm a male? How sexist of you. And, Jimmy Choo is a male. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Choo I FORGOT CULINARY ARTS! THE TOP CHEFS ARE MALE TOO! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! Spuddy: Whoever once said there weren't other designers on the Jimmy Choo's line? I only mentioned Jimmy Choo because he was the originator and he is a fashion designer. You then brought up a woman designer on the line as if that somehow contradicts whether or not Jimmy Choo is a designer. It doesn't. According to my sources, Jimmy Choo still designs. Whether it's for his original line or not is irrelevant. The fact is, he's a fashion designer. You still didn't show where I claimed anyone "invented" fashion. And, why would you assume I know nothing of it? Must be because I'm a male. My girlfriend is majoring in fashion merchandising, so I've gained quite a bit of knowledge from her.

National Historic Place Register...could my house be on it? ok so my house was originally built in 1825 and was supposedly a stop on the underground railroad. throughout its history, some noteable people and families have lived there (maybe not ntl. names, but def local for my city) it was also designed by a famous architect in my city in 1900, after it burned down. since then, the interior style has remained much the same, with some exeptions including the kitchen (modern appliances, style and the paint and architecture throughout the house, which isnt anywhere close to what the original color scheme would be. also, the exterior is painted an olive green, as opposed to the original white. do you think that it could possibly be added to the nhpr (dont know if thats even what its called but u kno what i mean right??) o ya and when it burned down in 1900 the walls still stayed in tact so the original 1825 walls are still there, they just changed the style and built a 2nd floor.... o yess and also the first governor of my state (unnamed for privacy reasons) most likely brought the gingko tree in our back yard over from china...and general lafayette (from rev. war) visited our house at one point
