Post Modern Architecture Knowledge Base
Can somebody post here the best articles about modern construction and architecture? I am writing an elective on the topic "What is the difference between ideas and reality, in the concept of what can be imagined and what can actually be built after that?" And honestly I am stuck right now. If you post me some articles about construction and architecture maybe it will help me. Or give me some ideas. Specially on BIG building projects that were changed in their development cause of problems. Thank you!
James Steele, in his book “Architecture Today”(London) phaidon,? James Steele, in his book “Architecture Today”(London) phaidon, (1997) says that European postmodernists have shown a far greater interest in urban design, contextualism and town planning issues than their American counterparts. Charles Jencks in “The Language of post-modern Architecture” (London) Academy editions, (1977) has said that, “this patching of urban, public space is the antithesis of Modernistic practice-the free standing functionalist monuments”. Name a European Architect whose work shows as interest in a return to elements of urban design (e.g corridor streets, squares etc) which predated the Modern Movement and give and brief description of work
Could someone explain to me the concept of "post-modernism?"? I've heard this term a lot. Sometimes people say "Po-Mo" for short. People use it to describe all sorts of things, from art, to architecture, to literature, to philosophy, etc. In and of itself, I suppose it just means "after modernism." However, I suppose I am asking, what are some post-modern aesthetics or values? Oh, and when exactly did we arrive at the "post-modern" era, would you say?

Is The Enlightenment and Modernism similar or the same thing? Relating to an art philosophy class- Modern vs. Postmodern architecture/art Is the Enlightenment and Modernism the same thing as in tied to systematic science, not accommodating a large variety of people (diversity)? -Universal knowledge- buying into things? Vs. Post-Modern which acknowledges and respects diversity, no metaphysical explanations- realism of limitation- distrust in systematic science, etc. Thanks!

What does this dream mean? the airport PART 1 I was lost in a building. I was going through corridors. The building had a 80s or post-modern architecture feel with wooden panels for walls It was like my fathers old office’s building that had a faulty lift which people say was a prankster ghost taking people to the wrong floor Then I realise it was heathrow airport but it didn’t look like heathrow airport As I was going around, I was going through corridors and rooms that were designated as smoking areas PART 2 I come across some people. Most of the we don’t notice each other Except for a girl I can’t remember what happened but I noticed her and her me I continued running around, running up and down stairs and escalators Then I found the exit PART 3 The exit felt like the exit in the local shopping centre that had escalators leading down to the underpass I started running towards a rent-a-car service where I rented a car For some reason I decided not return to the airport I cannot remember why It could’ve been for the girl I drove around the airport looking for a suitable parking space I was driving around the circumference of the building I was gong clockwise It was a large, wide building There must’ve been a few spaces but I didn’t choose them It must’ve been because it was pay parking The walls were towering both the building and the perimeter I found a suitable place but it was a long drive from the exit I used I parked the car and thought of running clockwise more. I went passed the wall and came to an open concrete lot I went up the slope but couldn’t recognise the place The building was to my right and I knew the airport runways were to my right I tried to look for an entrance to the building It took awhile I remember passing an entrance that was reserved for emergencies I think as I was searching I came a across a young black girl, no older than 13, whom I didn’t take notice PART 4 I found the entrance to the building I traced my way back and then I came across the first girl I saw She said something She must’ve made a comment about me running I said something back We were flirting I was behind her and feeling her bottom She didn’t object Then I offered to have sex We were now facing each others She said yes I had a good look at her face She wasn’t very pretty Her nose reminded me of the girl I dated from uni a way back Somehow we didn’t go through it but it was because I was turned off We must’ve put it off til later It just didn’t happen But I wasn’t crushed so it wasn’t negative PART 5 I continued running around the building Then I must’ve realised it was getting late I ran back outside I couldn’t remember where I parked the car or how the car looked like I was searching the different parking lots I came to a lot where I thought I parked the car but I couldn’t find the car I had the set of keys but it didn’t have an alarm so I couldn’t just push the button I thought perhaps the ren-a-car service must’ve taken it back cos it was late and they found it in one of the parking lots I continued searching Then I came across olav and others whom I don’t recognise but one of them must’ve been mico We greeted each other and said its been a long time I sensed they wanted to meet again so I gave them my mobile number There were some confusion with the number at first but we got it right in the end We said goodbye As I turned around I saw the little black girl again We started talking to each other and she told me she was there because her brother was working there I decided to bring her with me cos it wasn’t safe There were workers working on hauling things like garbage and other supplies I told her to wait at a corner while I go get the car i think I was running barefoot and I was trying to avoid running on broken glasses I must’ve found the car but it wasn’t the car I rented It was now a four by four, colour white i was driving it really fast and lost control once around a corner and hit a wall or another car the young girl wasn’t there anymore so I didn’t bother with her I was able to find the exit from heathrow and now driving on an avenue The avenue was like the avenues of the place where the old high school was I made a u-turn on a junction Decided to drive home Then I woke.

Aesthetics- city of Berlin? I am planning on moving to Berlin. To prepare, I have watched travel videos and looked at pictures of Berlin. However, the city does not look pretty to me. I know and understand the history (post WWII bombings, etc), but the city just still looks so ugly, despite the new modern architecture, which I also find ugly. Can anyone tell me if this city is, indeed ugly, and if so, what is enjoyable about the city? Also, could anyone recommend a really beautiful neighborhood to me in Berlin? (I was thinking of living in Prenzlauerberg). Are there any streets or niches you know of that are beautiful? (My income isnt very high, so it cant be super expensive). Thanks
History of Architecture? help? I'm a freshman in college taking up architecture. I've been studying HoA for 5 months now but I still can't distinguish certain architectural styles used on certain buildings. For example, I can't tell if " La Madeleine" of France is of Romanesque, Renaissance, Classical or Neoclassical style. Is there a way I can tell what style used on a building is easily? How are the Chrysler Bldg. and The Empire State Bldg. of Art Deco style and not modern? Here are some questions I failed to answer during my midterm exam. Each of the 6 question is worth 2 points, so 12 points all in all and I managed to get was 3. I'm posting them here as well , hoping someone could answer them right. 1.) Why did Renaissance start in Florence and not in Rome? 2.) What was the role of The Crusaders in the development of the Gothic style? 3.) What was the role of the merchants in the development of the art and architecture during the Renaissance period? 4.) Why was Muslim Architecture seen in the architecture of Spain? 5.) What was the significance of the Renaissance in the status/ condition of the architects that was not given to the architects of earlier periods. 6.) Why did Romanesque start in Italy? Please help! Thank you in advance! :D
Did we seriously lose our architecture abilities? Currently enrolled in AP World and notice all these buildings built by the ancient people. I thought it was amazing how they did it. Such as looking at pyramids being built without modern technology. Or how one of the ancient Americas societies that made two rocks so flat against each other that you can't stick a blade between it. I talked about that with my AP world teacher and he started to talk about how we lost it. Even today he said, we can't build anything that can last as long as the ancient buildings. Such as the pyramid. So I got into researching about it and found this post about the Giza pyramid that had actually routes to the tombstone of pharaohs. " From a labour perspective it is possible to use extensive labour. But from 2 angles we cannot explain. One, the precision. It is now still impossible to attain that kind of precision even at our technological levels today. Second, the durability. Even with our current technology we cannot build things that can last 5000 years. That remain two possibilities, either the history books are wrong, they were more technologically advanced then us now or aliens built them. Either way it is the same answer. We are unable to build a pyramid today. " So did we lose it? How? Yea technology evolve but I don't see why we have to lose it. I would like to see someone today make a building that lasts for 5000 years
Trivial question about OBL's house? Until now I've never paid much attention to modern architecture in the Middle East. (EVERYONE''S house over there looks like a military bunker as far as I'm concerned.) But what are those dozen or so poles or pipes running up the sides of OBL's "mansion" and sticking through the roof? Plumbing vents? Lightning rods? I know this is completely beside the point, but my curiosity is bugging me, and I thought someone might actually know. (I thought about posting this in Home And Garden, but... I dunno.... I think I'll go with Seniors.)
Do African civilizations invented Architectures? Well, World Civilizations and the major cities of the World (New York, Paris, London, Beijing, Tokyo etc.) regardless their common modern infrastructures (Skyscrapers) have their own architecture. From the Capitol in Washington D.C, to the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, to Château Frontenac in Canada and going over Asian countries with the Forbidden City in Beijing, almost all them developed beautiful architectures. In Africa regardless the Islamic architecture in North Africa, I didn't see through my researches a real architecture developed by black African. Do they ever invented one ? If yes thank you to share the name of the architecture and links to concrete pictures. Note: No racist intention in this post, I am myself black African.
Do you agree with this view? “Broad and Varied Social Forces Historically have Influenced Corrections” John Conley: Historian [p 46] It is reasonable to agree with the fact that a continuum of a more humane treatment of prisoners is evident in a linear comparison with our society’s progress, and which is being achieved mainly by present day Institutional Accreditation Criteria, by the implementation of Rehabituative penal programs during the term of incarceration and at post-conviction, and the more prominent application of the Classicist View towards corrections. These are in my opinion the most significant applications towards societal restructuralization in regards to the humane treatment of prisoners and the safety of society, in order to achieve a returning positive citizen instead of a habitual recidivist criminal. The humanist penal reformers and their observations, which stand throughout the history of penal evolutions applications and practices and its transformation, are accredited mostly to the early efforts of John Howard, Jeremy Bentham and Cesare Beccaria. Their thinking and efforts have influenced the Architecture of Prisons in that prisons are built around the population and not a population ‘enhorded’ within, and thereby bringing harmony into the conscience of modern day society. “Perhaps the invention of the Penitentiary represented not the Product of the Humanitarian instincts unleashed by the Enlightenment, but a means of Disciplining the ‘Working Class’ to serve a new Industrial Society” “Apparently reform was brought about as much as the emergence of the middle class as by the ‘humanistic concerns of the Quakers and others. The new industrialist may have been concerned about the existing criminal law because, paradoxically, its harshness was helping some offenders to escape punishment, and at the same time a shortage of exploitable and cheap workforce: Jurors would not convict persons accused of petty offenses for which Death was the prescribed sanction. In petitions to parliament, groups of businessmen asserted that their property was not protected if offenders could escape punishment; however the true underlying cause is a shortage in the work pool. They wanted sanctions that were swift and certain, and their demands fell on the fertile ground of moral indignation. Traditional scholarship has emphasized the humanitarian motives of reformers seeking a system of benevolent justice; however, some revisionist scholars have focused on the underlying economic or social factors that account for this shift in correctional policy.”

Are men naturally more artistically creative than women? Are men naturally more artistically creative than women? People are always saying how women are more in touch with their emotions, express emotions better, etc. But, I can't think of a more humanly ingenius form of emotional expression, than the arts. And, virtually all artforms today and throughout history are & have been dominated by men. Painters/Sculpters - Impressionists like Van Gogh and Monet. Renaissance painters like Da Vinci and Michaelangelo. Modern pop artists like Andy Warhol & Keith Haring. And even today, in a post-feminist world where women now have more opportunities than men -- men still dominate painting, with artists like Shepard Fairey, graffiti artists like Saber, Banksy, Retna, Mear, Cope2, etc. Architecture - Take a look at this site, of the greatest 20th-century architects & building designers. http://architect.architecture.sk/ ALL MEN. And the top architects today are all men. Don't say "women don't have opportunities" because a woman is more likely to go to college than a man. So, even with the advantage & privilege society gives women, men still dominate. Acting/Theater - The top-10 paid actors in the world: Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, Leonardo Dicaprio, Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler, Nicolas Cage, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell. As you can see, no women made the list. The top producers, directors, and writers are also men. The creative geniuses behind the vast majority of movies, TV shows, and theatrical plays you see are men. Fashion - Yes, even fashion. Although this industry caters mainly to women, the brains and top designers behind most of these lines are men. Firstly, most women's clothing was originally invented by men (and at one time, originally worn by men). My girlfriend has her own fashion blog, where she talks about all the latest fashions. And I notice that at least half of all the women's fashions she features about on her blog are clothing items designed by men. The list of top fashion designers are as follows: Yves St. Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein, Russell Simmons, Marc Ecko, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Sean Combs, Hugo Boss, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Salvatorre Ferragamo, Guccio Gucci, Dov Charney Music - Virtually all music genres are dominated by men. Everyone from classical masters of Beethoven, Bach, & Mozart, to rock bands like Aerosmith, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, & Metallica, to Hip Hop artists like Jay-Z, Ludacris, LL Cool J, Run-DMC, 2Pac, & KRS-One, to Soul/R&B greats of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, etc... other genres dominated by men: Jazz, Blues, Country, Techno, Heavy Metal, Reggae, Funk, Disco, Salsa, Reggaeton. The best-selling album of all time is "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. And besides the artists & lead singers being dominated by men, most of the backup musicians that play instruments are male. And I can venture in to other artforms, like magicians, circus performers, dance, etc. -- all where men dominate. And I know one of the feminist responses will be "yeah but women didn't have access to the schooling/instruction that men had to learning the mediums, etc." You do realize that many of these men were self-taught geniuses? Beethoven did not have a teacher or go to any schools. Da Vinci was also self-taught. Rappers do not go to "rap school" either. If we were to assume that women & men are equal when it comes to artistic creativity, then we should've seen just as many self-taught female geniuses as we do male geniuses, without schooling. But we don't. Are males more artistically creative than women? scottishguy: Exactly! As I said before, women now have more opportunity and privilege than men... more women are going to school and are encouraged to go to school. Yet, they are still behind men in the "real world" despite all of this. And men actually score higher on SAT's than women, for the record. Capone: Yes, but eccentricity amongst artists is not exclusive to men. The women that are brilliant in these fields tend to be eccentric as well. Dracula: LOL@ Paris Hilton. Please tell me you're not serious. She's not an "artist". She's a heiress socialite & bimbo, that got famous for giving a guy a blowjob. Oprah is also not an artist, she's a talk show host and a business mogul. Half of your list is of people I've never heard of. But, you should read "The Mrs." post. She said that feminists would begin to list artists -- but for every female artist you list, I can list 10 or more. And all 10 males will be greater artists than the one female artist you listed. So what's your point? Oh yeah the top comedians are male too. Forgot about that one. Men are funnier than women. Dracula: Rap is an art. It takes skill and is a form of expression. You just never really tried listening & understanding it. Kate: Tommy Hilfiger, Puff Daddy and Dov Cheney have multi-million dollar companies. I consider them serious fashion moguls. Donatella's relationship with Gianni is why she became known. She used his name (literally) to get to where she is. And, Yves St. Laurent has been far more influential than Coco Chanel. You said "Gianni is dead", but what difference does it make? So is Coco Chanel. NEXT. Dracula: Oprah is more known for her businesses and show than her acting. Yes, she did do some acting bits, but, if you were to just focus on that -- she is not considered one of the "top" actors in Hollywood. She hasn't done enough to be considered that. As far as Paris Hilton -- I didn't know being in reality TV made you an "artist". She's mainly famous for being a heiress & socialite; her "artist" ventures like that failed pop-album are considered side-ventures. Spuddy: I never once said anyone "invented" fashion. Find where I supposedly said this. I said most of the most notable fashion designers have been men. Are you assuming I know nothing about fashion because I'm a male? How sexist of you. And, Jimmy Choo is a male. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Choo I FORGOT CULINARY ARTS! THE TOP CHEFS ARE MALE TOO! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! Spuddy: Whoever once said there weren't other designers on the Jimmy Choo's line? I only mentioned Jimmy Choo because he was the originator and he is a fashion designer. You then brought up a woman designer on the line as if that somehow contradicts whether or not Jimmy Choo is a designer. It doesn't. According to my sources, Jimmy Choo still designs. Whether it's for his original line or not is irrelevant. The fact is, he's a fashion designer. You still didn't show where I claimed anyone "invented" fashion. And, why would you assume I know nothing of it? Must be because I'm a male. My girlfriend is majoring in fashion merchandising, so I've gained quite a bit of knowledge from her.

What exactly defines a "MOD?"? What exactly defines a Mod - or modernist? What is the attitude or philosophy? And what separates this from the 60's/80's fashion revivalists? See to me, as I understand it - Mod refers to an attitude of logicality and clean living, using technology, clothing and architecture to empower the"modernist". It sweeps away with old standards and what has gone before and makes way for the new, to new ways of living. If using sixties icons such as the miniskirt, the bob etc etc is a signifier of this - then so be it.This is reflected in the timeless geometric and clean styles and haircuts of the sixties, and the iconic modes of transports in the sixties like the motor scooter. elistist mods would say that the 'real' mods were london high flyers who never rode on scooters- but if we go back to the idea of moden solutions in difficult circumstances - the scooter was an excellent solution to post war britain and would make at least the attitude of "mod" Or are Mods just bandwagoners and scene kids- that were very much like the chavs of nowadays- seeking attention like peacocks - swap the scooter for a corsa with its pipes and skirts - replacing the vessy or Lambretta with its stickers, chrome and many, many, many lights. I always throught that the revivalist scooters absoloutely stank - doing away with the clean modern lines to be weighed down with too many stupid mirrrors. Whatever, I love the original sixtoies fashion, the blunt fringes, the straight lines, the tight fitted cuts and the attention to detail. Id love to hear from people.....
Would someone edit my essay? I need it a bit longer.? At noon on April 22, 1889, cannons resounded at a 2-million acre (8,000 km²) section of Indian Territory, launching president Benjamin Harrison's "Hoss Race" or Land Run of 1889. During the next six hours, about 10,000 people settled in what became the capital of the new Territory of Oklahoma: Guthrie. Within months, Guthrie became a modern brick and stone "Queen of the Prairie" with municipal water, electricity, a mass transit system, and underground parking garages for horses and carriages. Hobart Johnstone Whitley, also known as HJ and the Father of Hollywood, built the first brick block building in the territory for the National Loan & Trust Company. He was asked by the local people to be the first Governor of Oklahoma. Whitley traveled to Washington, D.C. where he persuaded the U.S. Congress to allow Guthrie to be the new capital of the state of Oklahoma. By 1907, when Guthrie became the capital, it looked like a well established Eastern city. Statehood, however, meant that political control moved from the national level to state government. Without the protective arm of the federal government. three years later Guthrie fought and lost its battle to retain the capital. In the middle of the night, on June 11, 1910, the state seal was moved to Oklahoma City, and along with it, Guthrie's entire economic base. Guthrie soon slipped into an economic sleep lasting seventy years. Guthrie prospered briefly as the administrative center of the territory, but was eclipsed in economic influence by Oklahoma City early in the 20th century. Oklahoma City had managed to become a major junction for several railroads and had attracted a major industry in the form of meat packing. A successful campaign was started by Oklahoma City business leaders after statehood to make Oklahoma City the new state capital, and it was moved in 1910. As a result of the sudden loss of its administrative function, Guthrie began to dwindle in size and soon lost its status as Oklahoma's second largest city, first to Muskogee, then later to Tulsa. Guthrie was named for John Guthrie of Topeka, a Kansas jurist. Guthrie post office was established April 4, 1889.[3]Guthrie was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service in 19. The happy result of Guthrie's misfortune is that the city is a perfectly preserved Victorian enclave. While growth and poor urban planning caused other Oklahoma towns such as Oklahoma City to destroy much of their early downtown architecture, much of the entire central business and residential district of Guthrie is totally intact. Guthrie is the largest urban Historic district in the United States, containing 2,169 buildings, 1,400 acres (6 km2) and 400 city blocks. Historical tourism has become the new industry for the town. Guthrie is home to several museums, including the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, as well as the National 4-String Banjo Hall of Fame and the Guthrie Scottish Rite Masonic Temple. Guthrie also claims to be the "Bed and Breakfast capital of Oklahoma". Guthrie is a Certified City and has received a Community Development Block Grant to inventory infrastructure features for Capital Improvement Planning (CIP). Guthrie has two lakes south of it called Liberty Lake and Guthrie Lake. The city hosts the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, which draws 15,000 visitors annually. Guthrie is also the home to Oklahoma's oldest year-round professional theatre company, the Pollard Theatre Company. With an emphasis on creative story-telling that illuminates the shared human experience, the Pollard produces six or more plays and musicals annually, enlisting the talents of skilled artists from all across the country. Through its season of diverse theatrical fare which includes A Territorial Christmas Carol, the annual holiday favorite, the Pollard Company continues to set the standard for theatrical production in the Sooner state. Its about Guthrie btw. I'll give you really good ratings from time to time if you help me out on this.
Are we all not glad that America has accepted CHANGE.? My love 4 change is boundless I am a world's Anon, ? incognito, citizen . I AM POSTING THIS POEM AS AN EXCEPTION IN SINGLES AND DATING SECTION ,AS ALL MY FANS ARE THE YOUTH OF THE WORLD, WHO GIVE ME INSPIRATION , SO PLEASE OTHERS KINDLY MAKE AN EXCEPTION AND EXCUSE ME. THANKS I like the best to win . I hate colour ,caste and creed and consider Religion as personal. I visit churches, temples, monasteries, mosques and any such place ,to enjoy its silence and harmony and architecture. Pease excuse me for this Poetry, as I am no qualified poet, pseudo at best.THANK YOU. LONG LIVE THE WORLD AND AMERICA CHANGE ALONE IS PERMANENT I recall Martin Luther King, some time long ago He spoke ‘’I have a dream’’ so be it, So must have Obama, the world needed the most indelible, Also the only permanent aspect of human and natural existence, As change is inevitable, as it is desirable Yesterday as I stood at Times Square, And later at Ground Zero and as I stood, In awe and silence beneath the tallest black skyscraper, I as Vision had a glowing vision, Of an Obama sweeping across all barriers To make the Global village smaller by holding the world economy In his palm and see the world without any qualm. It was then that I knew though I could not profess, America’s time had come for a real time ahead To monumentalise my minds eye of the, Most inevitable of Creators’ orders that whatever it is ‘’L ET change be the cornerstone of all existence’’. Rise thee Americans, above colour, caste, creed and religion, Touch not values of personal consequence, Rise above the level of snails’ speed, To become a world an International leader indeed, Come help the world out of an ailing depression, Let economy flow out of recession and greet Obama, With open arms, as he leads America beyond imagination, To bring about a change, that the whole world wide needs And stamp a mark of indelibility. Let us join hands and ring in a New Year with Obama, At the helm and let the International arena follow Obama. God bless America and through the nation, Obama too, Through him all the countries that make up a worldly village, a Modern Times' indelible and deliberate creation. ‘’Hello Canada’s’’ Greetings for ‘’Hello America’’ Hope u all will like my feelings for America, and through America, of the world.

What do you think about my rebuttal on post-war modern architecture? The rebuttal states that the old buildings are not as efficient as the new ones and loses some of its power. I feel that the historic buildings are for sure not as efficient but are rare and can be turned to low cost and low energy. These buildings are part of the beautiful and part of our culture and are here to stay.
wat are some post modern artists under these categories ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. dark/apocolyptic (2) 2. electronic age and cyber culture (2) 3. high art populat culture kitsch (2) 4. the found object (2) 5. political art and art that shocks(2) 6. pluralism-old traditions continue (2) 7. architecture and design(2)
Have you ever been stereotyped? Okay I get we live in a society where we as individuals are judged on everything that we do but why do people feel that it is right to wrongly judge someone based on your appearance. Anyways my experience includes a girl who transferred into my AP class and we are now acquaintances but this is what she thought just based on just looking at me. She thought I was dumb (even though my average is high and I get all A's, also I got into the post secondary institution of my choice) She thought I was going to be like every other 'popular' girl in my grade striving for the boys attention and dumbing down for them to seem cute. When I'm the total opposite and I really don't care what the so called 'popular' girls say about me. She also thought because I dressed nicely (not in brand names) but wearing things like dresses and skirts I was automatically a **** but I'm the furthest thing than that. She thought my hobbies included staring in the mirror taking pictures of myself, going on facebook the whole day; commenting on people pictures and going to parties and getting wasted. Where as I like taking shots of modern architecture, I don't even have a account on Facebook and my definition of fun does not include hooking up with random guys and forgetting about it the next day. Anyways sorry about my rant but my question to you is have people stereotyped you the wrong or even the right way based on your appearance.
How to immerse myself in Japanese culture? I have always love Japan, even as a child. From there feudal architecture to there modern food concepts, I love it all. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to go to Japan although I was hoping there was a website, or string of websites, that would allow me to immerse myself in the Japanese culture. I hope to cover more than just the basics like food, tourist attractions, and stuff like that. I hope to find out what school is like for them, what they see on t.v., government, religion, just day to day life in general. Thanks ahead of time to anyone that reads this and post a reliable answer.
