is there an architectural term for the ultra-triangular theme in gothic architecture; what is it?

i notice that a recurring theme in gothic architecture is the myriad of sharp triangles throughout, is there a term for this? i'm NOT talking about "spire, pinnacle, pointed arch, lancet arch, etc." they tend to be ABOVE the pointed arches, like roofs. i've looked and looked but it's not really talked about. does it have something to do with evoking trinity? thanks! i notice that a recurring theme in gothic architecture is the myriad of sharp triangles throughout, is there a term for this? i'm NOT talking about "spire, pinnacle, pointed arch, lancet arch, [edit: not tracery either] etc." they tend to be ABOVE the pointed arches, like roofs. i've looked and looked but it's not really talked about. does it have something to do with evoking trinity? thanks!
