How did Greek Gods influence architecture, art, and athletics?

1. They were the inspiration to build grand building to honor them, art to potray and honor them, and athletics to well once again praise and honor them...
2. In terms of architecture, temples were created to honor the gods. Not only did temples honor the god or goddess, they represented his or her attributes. For example, the famous Parthenon on the acropolis was built for Athena, the goddess of war. In this temple the Greeks used the Doric style of columns, which are large and heavy, to give it a sense of might and strength symbolic of Athena. Also, the organization and mathematical order of Greek temples represent the perfection of the gods and goddesses.
