best architecture schools?

can anyone give me a list of the top undergraduate architecture schools? Right now I have Penn State but my search tells me it's not necessarily the best school. I really love the school but I'm not sure if it's the right school for architecture. I'm also wait-listed at Columbia and if I am admitted I wouldnt know which university to choose. which do you guys think it's the best in architecture out those two schools? thanks!

  1. I would choose Columbia absolutely. Some of the things taking place over there are very cutting edge and I am rather upset with myself for not applying to the graduate program. Francois Roche has some very intersting topic studios taking place there. It is by far a better choice, even though there is nothing wrong with Penn state. http://www.architectmagazine.com/industry-news.asp?sectionID=1006&articleID=602885 if you look here columbia is not ranked in the undergrad section only the Grad section. but thats only because Columbias undergrad degree is not fully accreddited...doesnt matter in the long run. Columbia is the best choice if possible
  2. Without question Columbia. It's going to be a solid foundation and brand name for when you later apply for your Master's Degree with top Ivy League architecture schools like Harvard, Yale, etc. You may want to think ahead to the graduate schools you want to eventually apply and contact or research their admissions to see what schools they are accepting undergraduates and let that be your best guide. Beyond the brand name, you may want to contact the two schools to get a few e-mails of recent graduates to ask them their experience about the atmosphere of the school, teaching methodology, is the curriculum rigorous, is there an emphasis on fundamentals or computer aided design, what study abroad programs are available, how is the faculty, etc.
