How is design different from architecture?

I think design and architecture goes along together. Design is a over arch architecture. Do you agree with that? Do you feel it is different. Here I am taking about software design and architecture.

  1. this may be confusing: design: the way its built... the look arch.: how its built...the style
  2. the style
  3. i s totaly diff architecture is less artistic then desing im studing architecture is my first years in desing u should have a talent to be a perfect designer but to be an architect ur need to be smart cz it like to have math
  4. They do go together, but they're not the same thing. Design says what something will do and how it will appear to the user; architecture describes how the product is actually built. Design can influence architecture, and vice versa. It's the same for buildings as it is for software.
  5. Architecture is the art of wasting space.
  6. I think design is the same and different. it s all a form of design, but architectural design, is 3 dimensional, video games, you may have to design an image that is 3 dimensional but for a flat surface. At any rate it isa all a form of design, and when learning design, it all goes together. I'm a graphic designer, with structural design experience, signage and more
  7. There is no real difference... architecture is software design also software design is architecture. I took 2 years of architecture/design classes... only real difference was the programs and process's but the end result is none-the-less the same.
  8. Architecture is the base or foundation on where you can design. I know i might be lill confusing, ok when you try to do a software project , you do architecture on how it has to be and kind of elements it needs to cover. After the architecture is approved then you can design that in what ever way you want. Did i answer your question ? lol
  9. Don't know
