Do you think other people view architecture and Industrial design as easy subjects to pass?

I was recently talking to my friends about uni and got myself into an argument on whose course was harder to pass. One was studying a doctorate degree and the other was studying a bachelor of psychology, and both seemed to think that their courses were harder than “drawing a couple of triangles and squares on a piece of paper” My question is that do you think other people view architecture and Industrial design as easy subjects to pass? And do you think that some people are unaware of what these design courses really involve?

2. i think a lot of people probably do see design and art degrees as easy to pass becuase they have a misconception. Design can be as academically challenging in terms of the concern of the philosophy of design, ergonomics, engineering, production, entrepreunership, marketing etc etc - nevermind the pure "triangle and set square" draughtmanship of specifications/illustrations. Ask your doctoral students and pysch students who designed their cars, their motorbikes; in fact all of the items they use will have been designed by industrial designers. I can remember an old design teacher making the rather true comment that design was one of the major transmitters of culture - look at Levi jeans, the cola bottle, the mini. All thes products (designs) carry a whole theme and narrative with them. Pyschology is advancing but its application is not as common as design, and quite often doctors are too willing to deal drugs and fit people into innapropriate models rather than help the patient holistically. So, thats my answer. Only a few design students will get to make it into industry - cos of the job situation but if work very hard, get the work experience, but above all- enjoy your time there, it doesnt matter what other peoples misconceptions and prejudices are - enjoy what your doing. That alone cannot be ascribed any worth or devalued by others. Hope these few words are of some use.
3. A Doctorate degree in what? I, and I think most believe that a bachelors in Psych is a walk. Probably based on their experiences in high school. I, and I think most believe Architecture and Industrial design to be on the upper end of difficult. BUT then again you didn't say...an under or grad degree in Architecture. An under grad would certainly be trumped by a Doctorate program in just about any study curriculum. Maybe if you filled in the blanks we could answer you better. But bottom line, your field is very respectful. (if for no other reason, the math alone scares me!! : ) You are bringing many skills together. None of which I am well suited for-that makes me respect you right there!
