1. How could it have ended? It may be Italy now, but they still have architecture. And as to when it began.. Architecture is something that began the day they built their first house. Basically, the Etruscans founded Rome in 750 (approx.) BC. So when the founded Rome, that is when architecture began. Perhaps you would like to be more specific and you might get the answer your looking for. Maybe a question like, "When were columns first invent?". Asking when architecture began is like asking when I began to breath.
