an example would be hardrock cafe in myrtle beach, or the Luxor casino. Any more?

There was a crazy religious cult (black supremacist UFO believers) called the Nuwaubians who built their religious temple in Georgia as an idealized model of an ancient Egyptian temple. Their religious philosophy may be (is) pretty nutty, but the temple they built was quite well done (alas, most of it has since been torn down; the below YouTube video is only a portion of what remains from the original complex.)
