Architecture/CAD question.?

Hello, How do you design a house on a picture. Basically, I took a picture of some land I'm going to buy, and it's flat, and I want to build a house on it, but I want to design it and stuff with some architecture software. How do I do that? I'm also basically saying... How do you do additions on to a house that you've taken a picture of in architecture software?

  1. It's impossible to do from a picture. The best free software to use would be Visio. In order to actually draw the house you would need measurements.
  2. There's a few ACAD programs that can take a photograph and match perspective from it, however you will still need to have some reference points to determine your scale so you can drop your model into it accurately. Other than that, its a matter of designing your building in CAD and then rendering it. Most people render their buildings and then combine them in Photoshop afterwards, but depending on your choice of CAD it will have different degrees of success. The reason why most people do it afterwards is to control textures and lighting better. As for adding additions to a house from a photo of a rendering is a little trickier. You should work from the original CAD files when possible, but when you can't, you'll have to do the same matched perspective and rendering as described above. It's good to know what the actual measurements of things are as your model will depend on this.
