Anyone there know anything about Golden ratio?

  1. The golden ratio is found in a ton of architecture and art, mostly because it was considered extremely special by ancient Roman's and Greeks. It can be seen all the way from the curvature of a snail, to the dimensions in the painting of the Madonna, to different dimensions on historic buildings. In addition, the golden ratio is also found in the human body. The length of your hand divided into the length of your arm to the elbow is near the golden ratio. If you google golden ratio, you will get more specific evidence of this. I had to make a report of this for high school several years ago, and found a lot of great websites that have this all compile together.

  5. The simplest answer I can think of is that it's the same relationship as standard notebook paper - 8 1/2 x 11. Once you have that size relationship you can apply it to any size rectangle. The reason for using "the Golden ratio" is that it is the most pleasing to the eye.
  6. I believe it shows up in classic Greek architecture. If you take a rectangle with a width w and a height h, then w/h = h/(w/2) or w² = 2h² As you can see, when you have a golden rectangle, when it is split in half, the 2 smaller rectangles are also golden rectangles, and so on. I believe the Greek Parthenon is built with the golden ratio.
