Chances at RISD?
I really want to go to risd but I'm not sure I'm what they're looking for. Here's the kind of applicant I am. I have a 3.8 weighted gpa and a 3.3 unweighted. I'm really really crazy about modern architecture. The catch: I have no drawing, painting, or sculpting skill whatsoever. What I DO have is an ability to make detailed digital reditions of homes and buildings. Do you think theywould like a profile like this? I've taken the psats and did well. I'm captain of the golf team and I've met with many architects over the years many of which work for international firms and some within my own family. so, do I have a shot.

- You visit the following faculty of architecture page and contact the person for better guidance http://jmi.nic.in/fae/fae.htm regards Ravindra
- Most Architecture schools (especially the good ones) DO NOT care about the ability to make a 3d model of a home or make good CAD drawings. you can train a monkey to do these tasks. They want to see abilty for critical thinking, not a good GPA. Some of the best architecture students had poor GPAs and test scores. A school like RISD where design is everything wants to see intelligence, true creativity, artisitic ability and above all critical thinking skills. For Example Rem Koolhaas is one of the biggest names in architecture right now, but prior to any architectural work he did not do mindless drawings or renderings. He was a writer that focused on sociological issues. Those are the king of things a good design school wants to see Photography, poetry, writing, art, sketching....and most importantly NOT simple drawings of an existant building.
