How hard is it for me to get a Green Card?
I'm a 17 years old and I'm studying National Diploma in Construction which I'm hoping will let me go on to study architecture in uni (in the UK). So after I graduate from Uni, I'm hoping I can get a job as an architect in America. So if I do get a job as an architect there, how hard would it be for me to get a Green Card?

- If you get a job in the US and a US visa sponsor, all it takes is time to get a green card. You have to be legally present in the US for the prerequisite number of years (I think it's 5) before you can apply. OR, if while legally working here on a legal work visa, you date, fall in love and marry an American, you can apply for an "adjustment of status" to a green card after the marriage. You have to jump through some hoops to prove that the marriage is legitimate, but it's not hard if it's a true marriage.
- It shouldn't be too hard,especially since you are going to college &such. I don't really know that much about it,but I have certainly worked with many ,many people that are hre with green cards. So I wish you the very best of luck,& hope to hear that you are going to be comming here soon!
- A bit harder than a yellow card, but not as hard as a blue card.
- Once you are an architect and have some experience you should qualify to come to the US as a skilled worker. You will need to find an American employer willing to sponsor you for a visa, that's why you will need experience first. You have to show prospective employers here that you are better than anyone they could hire locally. An American employer will have to prove they can't find anyone here will the skills and knowledge who is willing to do the job. Once you get to Uni start looking for similar courses in the US and try to network with students there. It won't do you any harm at all to start making useful contacts and while students you can contact may be a long way from having any influence over hiring you, you never know what the future will hold.
