- I know It shouldn't be time for me to know what colleges to go to or what jobs to get, but I've wanted to be an architect and I have gotten into drafting. The jobs are becoming more and more scarce as there are a lot of people who want to be architects. But if you look on the bright side. More people desire to become architects, the less jobs and the more workshops and companies are started. Sign an apprenticeship to start with, and hope it progresses forward. Some companies go out of business. Your company may stay but if not go to another. You may need another odd job. Eventually you'll find the job that sticks and you stick with it.
- my dad is an architect, manual drafting. Its slow but he says he's too old to learn CAD. CAD is the way to go. My aunt is a civil engineer and places different house models on properties so they fit, according to the city's rules about how much space between each house, and from the fence, etc. Engineering is a way broad subject, that makes a lot of money. Its good to get into. Architect is under engineering, but not as popular as some of the other types of engineering jobs that are out there. You should go for it. Besides, its not about the money, its about the love of the job. When its about the love of what you do, its not a job; its a paid hobby.
- because you do engineering and have books and stuff as well as the interest you should definitely do architecture. you probably wont be designing in your first job but maybe as a drafter, or any occupation where an employer needs someone with a specialize skill such as archicad or autocad which you would learn in the course.
- If I had listened to people telling me that engineering would be too hard for me I wouldn't be where I am today. That being said, you need to follow what you want to do and not listen to the others. While architecture is a difficult program, many people go through it and are successful. One thing to consider is the job market. Architecture is very much about design and therefore it can be very competitive and jobs are more scarce. You may want to look into Civil engineering if structures/bridges are your main interest. There are generally more job opportunities in Civ Eng than in Architecture from what I have seen personally. I suggest a weighing out the choices in your mind based off your own passion and the current industry standings. Don't let others bring you down and tell you that you can't do something! You can do whatever you set your mind to. :)
- If this is what you want to do with your life than go for it. People will always criticize you for your decisions in life but that's only because they care and want the best for you. There are PLENTY of jobs for architects out there. My husband quit school while he was in the 9th grade. He worked as a carpenter afterwards and while doing this he obtained his GED. He is now in college to become an architect, he's only 20 yrs. old, and he still works full time. There will be alot of difficulties in pursuing your dream but if you really want it you'll find the strength to make your dreams come true. This is your life live it how you see fit.
- First, what KIND of architecture do you want to do? Schools? Hospitals? Office Buildings? Skyscrapers? Homes? Although good ideas are nice, you sometimes have to bend to the will of the client and what they want, so you get into this push-shove game of getting what you both need. Architecture has its ups and downs, like any other business, but if you are willing to come in at the bottom level as a drafter, you can make it
- Architecural Engineering is a branch of Engineering. After 10+2 , You will have to clear JEE (ARCHITECTURE) . Then you will get admission in Architectural Engineering in an Engineering college . It is a five years coarse.
- As someone in the field, I think I can answer your question. It's good that you have an interest in architecture and that you are taking classes which provide some insight. As you prepare for college you should contact area colleges with majors in architecture, as well as talking to area architects, engineers, etc to learn about different programs and various people's experiences. As far as the future and salaries are concerned, Harvard University Graduate School of Design has just created a program in integrated design as there is a concern that there will be a shortage of architects and engineers. Salary.com and the AIA provide information on salaries of architects. Good Luck!
- yes, be an architect just go on
