Is the career architecture just to build buildings?

When i mean building i meant designing them,but what else do they do.

1. Architecture trains architects to design structures. Building them is more for the construction workers
2. They also design refurbishments, renovations, extensions etc. to existing buildings. Some architects specialise in the conservation of historic buildings.
