architecture?
What are useful ways to get an insight or tutorial on architecture? Are there programs? What tools are needed for drafting? I am a 10th grader looking for ways to experience, learn if this is an actual career i am interested in. I have colleges picked out already. It would be great to get some advice from any architects. I hope i have asked the right questions. If you have any additional information that i should research into please let me know. Thanks

- if you are completley serious, you should buy the program AutoCAD. It's what most architects use to design and build models with.
- Architecture is rated as one of the worst proffesions based on how much school you need, how much resposibility you take on and how much you get paid. I have a degree in Architectural engineering. When I do engineering I make $150/ hr + when I practice Architecture I make about $45 . hr. Get a structural engineering degree and then play with architecture when you are board. Learn auto-cad or vectorworks drafting. And definitely get out there and build somethnig yourself.
- if you're looking for a good paying career architecture is not one of them. its a been a longstanding joke amongst architects of which i am one myself. i got my license to practice 2 years ago. but its all about love. if you love what you do, money will come to reward you. so follow what you really want to do. architecture is a noble profession and one which has such a great impact on society. as for the tools you are searching, get good books on architectural drafting, don't jump right away to AutoCAD, It's better to get a firm foundation in learning the fundamentals of understanding space and dimension from actually drawing. start with books and get advice from other professionals in the industry. and please, don't listen to haters.
