- Trying to make everybody on Answers do your history homework? Tsk tsk.
- Here's one idea - Technology of early 20th century - improved materials, like steel, I think - allowed the skyscraper to be built - met the needs of modern cities because took advantage of space vertically, not horizontally.
- Is this a sneaky way of getting an essay written?(good one, can't help you though don't know anything about architecture.)
- Buildings used to be beautiful to look at. Now there is ony an esthetic value to gape at! Kinda like, songs used to have a melody, now mostly noise and poorly written rhyms.
- looking at the ancient peices of architecture like the pyramids or the great wall of china, these definitely are magnificient but the scale at which these were constructed was pretty slow.we have just a few peices or you can say specimen of these. each civilization like the mayas, incas aztecs etc developed their own styles of architecture by the way of shape & certain features like lofts, addition of domes etc on their buildings. plus these architectural marvels were more of places of worship or had religious or cultural meanings. coming to today's architecture. buildings, dams etx are more of residential & utilitarian nature than simply being architectural wonders. the scale at which we create such marvels is also unparalled. plus we use many new modern materials like reinforced concrete, glass , fibreglass etc which were not used by ancient civilizations.
