  1. It is where everything is built out of natural materials that arent mined or milled.
  2. the "green" movement, as it applies to construction, is the consideration of the environment first. it's buying lumber that is from sustainable sources, instead of old growth timber. it's choosing paints with low voc (volatile organic compounds) contents. its employing recycled products, wherever possible, as well as products that can be recycled after you're done with them. composite decking, made from saw dust and plastic grocery bags, in place of solid wood. maybe opting for solar, wind, or hydro, in place of the coal burning municipal power co. or a grey-water collection system for irrigation. green could be landscaping with native plants, that survive on theit own, with little or no watering or maintenance, instead of traditional lawns that require lots of water and chemical fertilizers and pesticides. the human race has left a path of destruction behind them, with every technological step they've taken. simply stated, green means leaving the smallest footprint on the earth, that we possibly can,not just in building, but in life.
