what in green architecture?

Public Comments

  1. Environmentally sensitive architecture
  2. ...to add to the above answer... It has as little an impact on the environment as possible - uses a lot of recycled building materials, is energy efficient, uses renewable energy (if possible), uses less water or somehow recycles the water (brown water (used once for washing/showers/etc but not sewage) is used to irrigate the landscape), blends in with the surroundings as much as possible... I've heard of a whole roofing system for office buildings which uses layers of materials and plants to use the rain water that lands there and to cool the building somewhat.. Hey, why not - better than tar and gravel
  3. Green Architecture is a term used to describe economical, energy-saving, environmentally-friendly, sustainable development. Solar houses, earth houses, cob houses are all examples of green architecture.
  4. if you're really interested, take a look at a book called the green imperative by victor papanek. he also wrote an important book called design for the real world. you may find some things that are helpful. also, the recent architecture of sir norman foster is decidedly "green"- he tries to reduce the environmental impact of his architecture as much as possible using really high-tech solutions. ciao.
