How would you rate modern society's architecture in comparison to other civilizations?
Or another way to put it is: How does our society compare to other ancient civilizations of the past? For example when I think of this society I think that it looks very ghetto...maybe in exclusive rich neighborhoods it can look cool, but once you venture out to go to the drug store or something you see the streets aren't so nice looking, graffiti, ect.. I think if we had a Roman Empire type society that we would appreciate the government more and ourselves and others.

- Well, I guess, but then again, our societal values have changed a bunch since then too. I think modern building aer a testament to the ingenious nature of man, and seeing the evolution of the structure throughout history is amazing not to take anything away from classic architecture, but progress or stagnate.
- I think there is a big diferrence between different nations. And there even is a big defference between the city and the countryside (where I live) I live in a small town with only 1500 inhabitants. We didn't have any graffiti or anything like that, until last year. A boy wrote "fuck" on a wall. Everybody knows eachother overhere and so his parents heared about what he did, and so he was in big trouble. I think because all villagers know eachother very well these things don't happen so often. I know everybody who lives in my street, I bet alot of people in the city don't even know their neighbors
- our societies architecture all over th world is amazing im going for my masters in architecture ,take a look at the architects frank lloyd wright, or tadao andao, but i get what your sayin but even in roman times not all buildings were beautiful, peoples home and middle class homes are just rectangular buildings made of stone ,clay etc, no great architecture there, you see ancient architecture and think that ancient societies had all this great architecture, it is because that is the only builidngs you are going to study not some 10 by 10 house, so there is just as much great arhitecture now or more than there was before, because even regular house have some form of design.
