  1. The International Style is essentially the modern stylistic movement in architecture following the tenets of Walter Gropius and Mies Van der Rohe. The philosophy is the style will be stripped of any vernacular identifier and ornamentation as often found in buildings before. The structure or the truth of the building is emphasized and not hidden, further defined by the statement form follow function. Unlike other skyscrapers before the Seagram building by Mies Van der Rohe was set far back from its property line giving it a better sense of scale.
