why do present day public building use classical architecture?
Public Comments
- Most of today's public buildings are based after classical architecture because it is a safe design direction. Most clients are unable to read plans or elevations, they rely on the architect and designers to direct them to something that is aesthetically pleasing. Of course beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, what may appear to be attractive to some is abhorred by others. Modern architecture is seen as risky, the building may face opposition from tenants and/or neighbors should the concept be misconstrued. For example, The $65 million Tempe Center of the Arts building is recognized in the architectural community as an Architectural statement. Public perception however is pure disdain for the structure. The building is publicly funded so of course you hear outcry from the community for such a monstrosity.
