What were the characteristics of Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture?

I'm an architecture student, so, i guess you can rest assured i know "for sure" The Romans figured out how to implement curves, and they were one of the first to figure out how to utilize the arch in buildings. You see it in the Colosseum, bridges, etc. From the arch, they figured out you can rotate it to create the dome, which was pretty impressive. Concrete was also invented during the Roman time period, which helped them to build the arch. As for Gothic architecture, they used a lot of what's called the flying buttress, and a lot of columns and ribs in the buildings. You tend to see those huge windows, which are usually filled with stained glass.
