Vaastu principles are based on the rays of the sun and the energies of five elements. The principles of Vaastu Shastra and Feng Shui can be scientifically and metaphysically explained. Both have nothing to do with religion of philosophy. The aim of these principles is to bring about harmony between man and the environment in which he is living. The aim is to bring about harmony between man and cosmic principles and teach him to show deference to nature and its laws. Decorating Tips The southwest direction has dominating elements; so make sure your master bedroom is in this direction. For your living room, choose furniture that is oval or square in shape. Complete your hall with a lovely water fountain placed in the northeast direction. Your kitchen should be in the northwest direction of the house. As the perfect place to cook is the southeast. Also make room for bathrooms, toilets, guest rooms and servants' quarters in the northwest. Place mirrors and washbasins in the east with taps and other accessories in the south. Avoid placing mirrors around your bedroom and least of all in front of your bed. It is also recommended to sleep in a position when your head lies to the East as it gives you honour, popularity and prosperity. If to sleep with your legs directed to the North you may hope your prosperity will be increased. It’s also strictly prohibited to sleep with the legs directed to the South. Color North : Shades of Green South : is governed by the planet Mars. Coral red as well as purple tones are ideal. Pearly or silvery white as well as milky white can be used in the southeast, which is governed by Venus. In the northwest, which is ruled over by the Moon, colours like white, fawn and cream work well. Try shades like pale yellow, lemon or cream in the northeast region. You could choose bright reds, warm oranges or even sunny yellows for the east as this region is governed by the Sun. Saturn whose colour is black governs the west.
