- Feminism is the ideology that states that women are treated as less than men, and seeks to fix that imbalance. Note - that definition does not state what a woman must or must not be, or must or must not enjoy - other than that she must be considered no less than a man in the same situation. Can a man enjoy fatherhood and consider it the most rewarding part of his life? I believe so. Can a woman enjoy motherhood and consider it the most rewarding part of hers? I believe so. There is implied in your question an assumption - that feminists would not be happy with this woman and her opinion. That assumption is not fair, and describes only a small group of feminist philosophers - those on the extreme, whom I and my friends like to term 'feminazis'. Feminazis would have every woman believe her own womanhood is somehow wrong, and that she would ideally be out working a man's job, wearing a man-tailored suit with shoulder pads (reference to George Carlin, scuse it). Forgive me for blathering, but I have a point: Isn't the denial of a woman's ability to enjoy that which is unique to her and her alone... sexist? So I would classify this woman's opinion as perfectly acceptable, and believe that feminists should celebrate her ability to choose what makes her most happy. As for those who believe it is wrong... I would accuse them of being sexist.
- I don't know her, but if she's happy, I'm happy for her. Cheers :-)
- It sounds like a smart women who loves her kids.
- So what's wrong with it. I don't understand why somebody should have some big opinion about it.
- It's up to her what makes her happy. Have a beer and forget about it, you're worrying about nothing.
- I don't really think anything about her, although I think saying being a mother is the "most rewarding thing" is cliche, even if it's true, but don't really care that she feels this way. I honestly don't think I'd feel any different if this was written by a man, either. Feminists have and do support *choice* for women. Which includes the choice to stay at home or work at home. They have historically stated that being a mother is one of the most important jobs ever, but recieves little recognition.
- I think having choices in life is a tremendous luxury. If the woman was not staying home to raise her children, she would probably need to pay another woman - usually a less well educated woman to help raise her children. That's not a great choice.
- As a feminist? I do not see the relevance. She has a degree and a masters so she has a level of dedication and probablly intelligence. She is a mother so she has a family. What kind of answers did you expect?
- She sounds intelligent and interesting.
- hates her job, loves her kids.
- Good for her. Are we done here?
- She seems to be happy with her choice, so good for her.
- I am a feminist who believes that being a mother is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. What's your point? Were you just looking for an opportunity to whine?
- why does this bother you? in this life you need to do whats right for you she loves her kids. and doesnt want to go out and have a huge career. and thats ok. as long as shes happy thats all that matters. in this life do what you want (within reason) as long as it doesnt hurt others then wheres the problem
- She sounds like a wonderful person. Just because you are a home maker does not mean you are stupid!!!!!!!!!!
- I thought the whole idea of feminism was for women to have choices. This woman is making choices in her life that are right and fulfilling for her. That's what it's all about (or so I thought).
- I applaud her.
- she is lying and she is self centered
- Sounds great-I'm glad she's able to do what she loves. What else would a feminist think-hmmm?
