What's the difference between "Interior Design" and "Interior Architecture"?

Public Comments

  1. Interior Architecture is the structure of the room or place and interior design relates to fabrics, furniture, colour scheme etc.
  2. there's no hard and fast division between the two- they overlap a bit. i'm an interior architect- i do everything an architect does except construct the exterior shell. i knock down walls, move walls, enlarge windows, shift electrical and plumbing, etc. but i also design or specify all furniture, lighting, wall finishes, flooring, door knobs, etc. (basically everything.) i think that generally interior designers have a little less control over the existing space.
