interior design/architecture.....?
ok, so i basically know the difference between the two, at least the practical difference, anyway, such as licensing, etc. what my question mainly has to do with is education. from what i can gather, interior architecture requires education and licensing as an actual architect, with a focus on interior design. if you go to school for a bachelor's in interior design, then go for a master of architecture, would that cover all required education? my wife wants to be an interior designer, but would actually prefer to be an interior architect. we will be living in NJ, however, and there are programs for interior design, just not interior architecture. there are, however, programs for architecture itself, so she could feasibly complete a degree in both. is this a good way to go?

- It really depends on what your wife wants to achieve. I've worked with a couple of successful interior designers that has Associate degrees from Community Colleges. The bottom line is school will only teach you so much, what really matters is what you do with your degree. If you wife decides to invest 4 years in Interior Design degree and another 3 years for a MArch, that is 7 years of educational investment. If your wife is truly interested in interiors, she should pursue it. There is no difference between interior design and interior architecture. People may call it what they want, but in the US, there are no State regulators between the two (except you are not legally able to call yourself a interior architect).
