How much US aid is detrimental to a country's dignity? HOw much help is too much help?

I love what the US is doing? they are really kind helping others but there is one problem... how much help is too much help? Everytime I return to Jakarta Indonesia for the holidays, all i see is crime wars like the USA, buildings like the USA, and what's worse... a social culture like the USA... Jakarta used to be filled with people who loved their families but the tradition of the Javanese are gone.... It's like modern architecture on traditional architecture... You have a style imposed on others when it does not fit the social context of a different place. I don't want to offend but all i want to see is a fine balance between dignity of traditional values and contemporary views. I think that the US should tone down their intensity and not destroy traditional cultures from other places. I love what they are doing but at what cost is it going to be? Lose traditional values or find a fine balance between another country's dignity and contemporary fashion. your views anyone? Thank Randy D. That's a good point. additional info: how can you make sure people are legitimate in their help and what can you advise any country with this problem?

  1. one (1) damn cent is too much.
  2. "Selfishness is not doing what you want to do, but forcing others to do what you want to do". True giving has no strings. The string destroys the dignity.
  3. That's an interesting question. It's kinda like the question about how much welfare is too much welfare. Some welfare might be worthwhile, but historically it's been proven to make recipients addicted to the handouts, and they'll do anything to keep living the life required to get more handouts, or "freebies". Same thing on an international scale. But the other question is, how do you stop people and nations from holding their hands out for freebies and welfare when they see you have what they'd like to have but aren't willing to put out the effort and time it takes to get it. Again, it's proven that more countries "come-a-begging" for U.S. money and other support because they don't want to do the work themselves and they want the "goodies" now. So, maybe if you want to stop U.S. cultural influence, you have to stop your country from holding their hands out for freebies from the U.S. It seems real easy to understand from where I sit, here in Texas, in the good 'ol U.S.A. God Bless you.
