3d Architecture software?

Whats the best software out there, for a beginner, in 3d rendering and module making? I am going to attend school for Architecture.

  1. vector works or google sketch up
  2. autocad costs 3-5-20k lawl
  3. Chief architect
  4. I love working in Google Sketchup, but in the architecture class I'm currently taking (high school) we're using a program called Revit. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=3781831&siteID=123112 it has a learning curve but it's more powerful than sketchup.
  5. Try Google sketch up. Very basic, and mostly used of computer case modding but I think it will do the job.
  6. Chief Architect. It's really simple to use and it's cheap! Try it! Google sketchup is pretty basic, so you'll need better software than that.
  7. Sketch-up is a great piece of kit for architecture, it lends itself to the task remarkably well. The tools are well suited. However, its rendering engine is not incredible. Getting something like Maya to acompany it would be a good start. 'course, you could always find a copy of 3D studio max, the industry standard, in places like a PIRATE filled BAY or somesuch. Unless you're a fast learner, not great for beginnners though.
