Placements after civil engineering?

I am a student of Civil Engineering (2nd year) from India( Osmania University). Things would have been really easy only if they went right. But it dint. I have a gap of 3yrs and I would finish in the year 2011. Now that I am only in 2nd year, which means 2more years to go,i.e. 4 semesters altogether, I would now go with some better planning so that even before i finish my graduation I want to be placed in the best company possible earning quite good amount. It need not necessarily be in my own field, i would dare to jump into IT sector as well if I am being paid good. But my passions are architecture and interior designing. I dream about setting up my own studio! But practically to get the finances or whatever, i would want to work and not depend on any. So considering all these I want to know what and how should I proceed further, for example, with percentages i require to score in my graduation so that i can compensate the gap I have or additional software programmes I need to learn to make myself a better choice for the recruiters. Let me also mention that I am a person with impressive personality and confidence and attitude. So plz suggest me friends!!!!

  1. Start preparing for ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION even now. If you pass with rank, you can retire as either Chairman of railway board or Chief engineer of CWPC etc. The salary will be more or less in par with those in IAS etc. But will never be comparable to IT jobs etc.
  2. If I were you, I would consider going into sales for a corporation. You could be the one who goes and gives a synopsis to a client looking to build or repair a bridge. You aren't necessarily the one who is crunching equations to design and build, but you are using your impressive personality with confidence and attitude to go out and land the jobs for the corporation, or at least some small part of the corporation. I had considered going into software sales for xerox when I was much younger. These companies need sales representatives who can relate to others well and explain detailed projects in easily understood, mild technical terms. And, I will also tell you that being a younger attractive woman only helps you land a job in the sales area more. They are looking for sharp minded, nice looking women.
