What are the building blocks of good architecture?

Good architecture doesn't just happen. How does any certain architect come up with a fantastic building?

  1. That's a gd question.. my perspective on this.. architecture that incorporates all points of passive design, to achieve a 10 star energy rating...which in return to you, means lower annual energy bills/ usage, and a small environmental footprint, ...and space saving techniques, in consideration for future zoning requirments.... If you can do this without sacrificing many of the aesthetical pleasures we get from viewing architecture, then i believe this is what makes a design successful. This design must also facilitate all the needs of human activity, hence serving a function, not just a form. ..as for how this is achieved, I'm yet to find out.. but, I'm assuming, something that is bold, beautiful, and encourages activity, and encourages movement towards, around and inside it...'shapes a community'. "To create something exceptional, your mindset must be relentessly focused on the smallest detail." Gorgio Armani. You can ofcourse use this in an architectural context.
