Question about college: is this necessary?
Ok So I want to go to Texas A&M when I graduate, and I want to get my Masters in Landscape Architecture, BS in horticulture, and a Bachelors in Business. Do you think this is an over kill? and how longs would that take? (How many years)..thanks =D Have a great day.

- Well it is not overkill because it is education but you need to think about when you want to start you career. All that schooling will take atleast 7 years
- That's a lot of school. Forget time for a second and think about how many sheer amount of hours you will be taking. 4 years worth of hours in all of your bachelors plus 2 for the masters. Even if you take 20 hours a semester and finish in 8 years you're still going to be paying a LOT of money. Usually schools have a buisness program you can take to get a certificate. It's not as prestigous but it will give you a buisness boost. If you are planning on starting a buisness or something then maybe you should try taking some clases at a community or tech college. You can get a 2 year degree in some of those and pay less money. A masters + 2 bachelors is a lot!
- I don't think it's overkill. You can probably finish a double major (for the 2 Bachelor's you want) in about 5 years, and the Master's in 2. That is acceptable.
- Depends on how much of you life you are ready to put on hold and how much money you have, and how many classes you will take a semester and are you going year round. Most of the time you can swing it to get a major in one area and minor in another. In other words start taking your Business classes as electives as you work on your B.S and then continue them as you work on your Masters. If you go all year round and not have to repeat anything, and depending if you need to publish a paper for your Masters-you should be able to do it in 7- 7 1/2 yrs. But that is putting YOUR LIFE other than college on hold Good Luck and God Bless Reggie I got a BSW, and a M.Ed with a certificate in Women's Studies in 6 1/2 yrs. and had went back as an adult after being out of school (no high school diploma). And had a family. If I did it anyone can do it. some people may tell you it's an over kill but in today's economy I would say go for it. You can't get too much education EVER
- To do Landscape Architecture you don't need a BS in business. You can hire people to help you with that (although it is good that you want to know some aspects so you can audit them). Here's my suggestion: BS in Horticulture (with classes in design) + Minor in Business = 4 total years (maybe 4.5) MS in Landscape Architecture = 2 years. Total max years = 6-7 Good luck!
- If you double major that's about 7 years if you work extra hard.* If you don't double major that's about 9 years if you work extra hard.* Also you better be rich, you don't want to know the debt you'll be in, and imagine you don't get the job you expect...wow- I sure hope your parents are rich! * Not working "extra hard" can add 1-2 years * Extra hard would be having very little to no free time, many hours of studying and you will most likely go crazy. Good luck.
