Should graduate school students dress up?
I mean graduate students for classes and for presentations, not referring to interviews. If it a professional degree are you expected to dress professionally? (I'm going for Landscape Architecture)

- Graduate students are in a more competitive environment. You should make an effort to look nice--I know a lot of college students think it's okay to go to class in pajamas and sweatshirts, but, in addition to it being gross, it's unprofessional (whether you're a grad student or an undergrad). Think: if you were a professor and two people came to you for recommendations, who would you write one for? The one who looks like he just fell out of bed, or the one who takes the time to groom himself and look professional? Keep that in mind when you get dressed. Jeans can be acceptable, if you dress them up with a nice shirt and shoes. Also remember: it's way better to be overdressed than underdressed.
- classes: button-down shirt with collar and neat jeans or Dockers. presentations: shirt and tie for women, similar 'presentable' clothing for class, and business casual for presentations. Oh, on occasion, the grad student will do the slob thing..... but never when they have to run a lab or class for undergrads.
