  1. Romans - arch Greeks - columns (three major types) Egyptians - I can see it in my head but can't remember name. Basically, lots of logs that you rolled something along, moving the ones from the back to the front as the large object passed over them.
  2. The Egyptians most famous structures were unarguably the Pyramids at Giza and the Sphinx, at least from the viewpoint of recognition by the average person. Each block in the pyramids was huge. Furthermore, as the pyramids rose from the ground up, these blocks of stone had to be hauled up the side of the pyramids on earthen ramps, an increasingly difficult task for the laborers as the pyramids got higher. As for the Romans and the Greeks, their buildings were quite a bit more ornate than the Egyptians were. Pillars had to be balanced carefully to hold up the immense weight of the structures they supported. Sometimes they would make the pillars bowed slightly in the center to give some flexibility(for lack of a more appropriate word). Doric columns were the sturdiest and had almost none if any decoration. Ionic columns were next in the line for ornamentation and Corinthian columns were the most ornate. Technology for ancient civilizations involved more the weight balance of the structures than the tools used, though of course tools got more refined as buildings got more ornate.
