  2. Hello! I am an Art History major (received my BA degree from UCI University of California)! I went and researched some links (and answers for you). However, please note that I would actually read the links that I have given you, and not simply rely on the answers (so that you have more knowledge and to ensure that you have the right answers! That said, enjoy these answers! 1.The monks who lived in remote regions of Japan and were self sufficient, using simple tasks such as sewing to meditate, were practicing what is known as Zen Buddhism. TRUE 2.In Japanese early architecture, a shrine built in the Shinto fashion is dedicated to the sun goddess, who is said to be the progenitor of the imperial family. TRUE (however see link # 3 that I have provided to see the answers: The Sun Goddess was revered for her job, but not for her rank (she wasn't bowed down to, for being the source of all life, but for the job she did, if that makes any sense in this abbreviated answer)... 3. Some Japanese pottery, recently dated by modern scientific methods, proves that these pieces were made earlier than 10,000 BCE, making them the oldest pieces now known. TRUE (SEE my link number #2, below), 4. A hanging scroll, called a mantra, assisted those who wanted to learn all the different gods, which were depicted on it, and their interrelationships in the Buddhist tradition. This answer appears to be TRUE according to this website: (SEE: reference number #`1 (website link, below)! 5.The enormous Olmec stone heads, found in La Venta, Mexico and other population centers, are thought to represent ancient gods. TRUE 6.The Moche culture of the Peruvian mountains are credited with the development of the first calendar system for the purpose of recording historical events. TRUE (SEE the last link that I have provided to you, to double check this answer)...as they were ancient (you might want to make sure that there was no one before them)! Okay, hope this helps and GOOD LUCK with your assignment! I hope that you like Art History (I certainly enjoyed these classes : )
