I am american and my boyfriend is mexican, if I marry him in Canada, Will he get an american green card?

We have been together for more than 5 years and I truly love him. But i have been living for over 15 years in Mexico. We both speak english, and have college degrees (architecture and mechanical engineer). Because of the violence situation in Mexico we no longer wish to live here,so I want to know how can we move to the States, ergo, how to get him a legal status in the country. thanks for your comments BTW we are both gay men Since we cannot get married neither in US nor in Mexico the only viable option is Canada

  1. both of you need to go see an immigration lawyer
  2. Why complicate your lives by getting married in Canada? get married here or in Mexico and then go to Canada and start your lives.
  3. If you go to Canada you will certainly not be getting an american green card. They are two different countries and you would still have to go through the American procedures. Im sorry to say but you will need to go through the official procedures but don't count on making it in. Not many people know, but mexico is kind if being "Quarantined" from the U.S. due to the actions that are taking place. the States have decided to limit immediate arrival of immigrants. you will most likely be waiting for a decade or more. Sorry.
  4. NO! sorry. Talk to an immigration lawyer in your area.
  5. If you are both gay men then I believe your best bet would be to find a company that would hire your boyfriend. Certain states do allow "same sex marriages" now. But it will not help with immigration nor will a marriage in Canada. Sorry but I think the work visa is your best bet. Good Luck!
  6. The federal government in the USA does not recognize gay marriage. Whether a gay marriage in Canada is required to be recognized in the US under existing treaties has not yet been tested in court. Buty until then, and it will take many years, you cannot get a visa for a gay spouse. Emigrate to Canada instead where gay marriage is recognized.
  7. Hope not
  8. The gay mexican will never be allowed to live in USA as USA does NOT recognize gay marriage for immigration purposes. Sorry but the wonderful USA HATES GAYS. You can both immigrate to Canada - BUT you must apply from mexico provided that you (the american) are legally living in mexico. ONE of you must be a skilled worker with a job that is in demand. see link below If you are skilled and your job is NOT on the list, then you can still apply, but it will just take a lot longer.
  9. getting married in Canada wont do much, I recommend going and applying for a long term residency. You may need an immigration lawyer
  10. Retain an immigration lawyer.
