What schools offer a naval architecture major? Alternative majors?
I've noticed that very few schools offer the major of naval architecture, and most that do are seemingly impossible to get into (MIT, UC Berkeley, etc.) Could someone who wanted to design boats/enter a field in naval architecture major in just architecture?

- I am not at all an expert, but my boyfriend is currently pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture. There are indeed very few schools that offer Naval Architecture... University of Michigan, MIT (as you mentioned) Purdue, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy... Nav Arch is a very difficult major. It studies more than just STRUCTURE, it also studies fluid mechanics etc... If your grades aren't the best and you cannot get into one of those schools you can get an undergraduate degree in Architecture and try for a Master's in Nav Arch.. but I am not sure how well that will work. Your best bet is to talk to the schools and see what your options are. If money is an issue, the service academies (CGA, NA) are free tuition. Explore your options and talk to counselors at schools before you make your decision, they know what is and is not acceptable for the field. Good luck!
- all i know of are the ones you listed i think cedarville may have one. hope this helps
