How come Gothic architecture is so present in Venice and not in rest of Italy?

Any particular historical reasons for that?

  1. I don“t know, but the case of Spain is similar... the majority of churches of Spain are a big moorish (North African Arab) influence... there are many churches in Spain, Portugal and South America who look as mosques... but, despite of it... the church of Barcelona has a beatiful gothic style (different to the to the rest of Spain)... maybe because Catalans are not Spaniards, and they are a different ethnic group, the cathedral of London is very different to the average Northern European style... it looks more similar to a Italian church
  2. Cause The republic of Venice was not subjected to the renewal of Renaissance and Baroque periods Most of Gothic buildings all over Italy ,especially in Rome and Florence, was demolished or restored in those ages. Venice have no richness to made new buildings in the new style cause the fallen of commercial trades in Mediterranean and to build in Venice is very expensive: each palace was made on an artificial island made of wood poles and each brick or stone come from mainland
