Interior Architecture or Product design as a career?

hey, i am in a bit of a dilemma..... i think i would enjoy interior architecture but i do product design at A2 (already had one year of it) any i enjoyed it so i like them both.... which has better career prospects. e.g. employ ability, salary, job satisfaction? any help would be much appreciated cheers

  1. Well in order to be an architecht, you need 8 years of schooling. I always wanted to be one, but once I learnt that you have to spend 8 years just learning it and going to college, I thought to hell with it. Architects do make more money than some surgeons do though. Great salary.
  2. My partner chose Product Design (at a very good uni) and is now a structural steel engineer on a LOT of money. He has also been a lighting designer and a site enginner as a result of the skills he learned on this degree. If you do Interior Architecture, your career options will be very limited when you graduate. If you do product design, and you're good at Maths and Physics, the world is your oyster when you graduate. I totally recommend product design as it's so adaptable. Although job satisfaction is another matter - design can be monotonous, boring and since it's all done through AutoCad - it can hurt your eyes over time. You would have the same issue with IA too, except it would be harder to fin a job.
