How can I learn to become a designer, and which kind of designer fits me better?
I have a PhD in Physics, but I love designing job, interior design, industrial design and even fashion design and architecture, but I do not know which of them to start and how?

- I say start with fashion because it is easy because you are just putting some old clothes together (or new) to make a brand new outfit(or whatever) and it is really fun I even gave it a shot you know you'd be surprised how easy it is.
- My wife has her Bach of Fashion design and if you think "I say start with fashion because it is easy because you are just putting some old clothes together (or new) to make a brand new outfit(or whatever) and it is really fun I even gave it a shot you know you'd be surprised how easy it is." is accurate you are very mistake. It is a very dificult degree to get. During her Sr collection time she would spend around 100 hours a week on her projects. I am in Architecture school and it is equally rigorous. I totally encourage you to do design and based on your physics intrest I think you (if creative) you could do well in architecture. It is not easy, but I think it is quite rewarding. The pay during the first three years after graduation is very very bad (internship), just a warning. oh and interior design is similar to architecture in many ways. No matter which one you choose you first have to go to school and LEARN. If interior design or architecture you must get your degree, intern, and then pass a certification test. I love architecture, good luck
- I was just about to ask the same question. I am interested in exactly them same things. Especially Fashion Design, Interior Architecture Design & Architecture. Though Im still a little on edge on where to begin my journey to where ever Im going to land I decided myself to start with Fashion Design... I have been truly truly passion for all 3 since a very young age. Somehow I suppressed the desire to pursue any of these for years because I couldn't choose which one I really wanted or if I could pursue all 3. Now at 26 Ive decided Im done hiding out... and am startiing from the very beginning. I dont have any kind of degree at all like you do.. Ive gotten some really good advice from others who have said you go to college to learn what it is you want.. (which was a big push for my to finally do it) Id say start out with Fashion Design .. if you are truly passionate about them.. Start from there.. and you will find out what design area you belong along the way.. I could have been a Web Designer as well... but I love building things with my hands.. The idea of bringing your imagination into reality!! Amazing feeling. Whatever you choose... I wish you the very best. Id have agree with another poster on here.. Fashion Design is NOT easy.. not of these are.. It takes a lot of unque creative minds for all of these.. Fashion Design also requires you to create your line I think in the BFA class... Id say leave all the options open.. Begin in either Fashion Design or Interior Design.. I know how difficult it is to decide... again wish you the best!
