why is the USA'S architecture so boring?
i mean, if you look at China and Dubai there buildings are so damn COOL -so modern. all we have is the soon to be: chicago spire and the new freedom towers. i know dubai has oil power and china is getting rich but how come when we had the money, we diddnt build cool buildings? or when we do have money to build stuff now, we just dont have good architecture? hong kong and shangai have way better skylines than new york!

- lol, that's because our skyscrapers were built like 20 or 30 years ago and we didn't have the modern technology to design such skyscrapers. Dubai and China built their skyscrapers not too long ago Today, we have modern technology so we can render buildings and what not. Dubai sucks by the way. I used to be fascinated with Dubai because of its skyscrapers but as I learned more about the workers building those skyscrapers, I came to hate that place. The workers are slaves. They're like slaves building the Great Pyramids in Egypt. Look at this report http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4249223.stm watch this video report. I was so shocked, I cried. Hopefully, this video will make you change your mind about Dubai. Dubai sucks http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7985509.stm
- First of all, in case you didn't know, our nation is in a huge debt. Second, our government seems to always butt in other nation's problems. For example, our government helped South Korea from being attacked by North Korea once upon a time. Their nation have a government and leader too. Why not let people take care of their own businesses? Unless, they ask a favor of you, let's not be nosy. Most of the time, when the U.S. help others out without them asking us too, that's where most of our capital (money) goes. Third, I personally think most government employees are corrupt. They think money overall. You know, they get into bribes and stuff like that. I travelled alot this summer and I can tell you that most cities that I've been to look decent. But, if you look at their neighborhoods and downtown, it is so ancient looking. That's because the mayor or even governor don't give a shit. As long as they get paid, they're cool with how things are. Even polices could do something about but they don't give a damn either. They only patrol the cities (or towns) to catch people who run red lights, pull over pretty girls or dumb looking people so they can get a raise. If only they mentioned how ugly their city or town looks, even a little improvement can help. Start off with small steps. To me, the government just don't give a shit. While some of us don't give damn and we have the government not giving a shit, that's pretty bad! And that's also why we have a high poverty in some areas...which leads to high crimes...which leads to a lot of polices catching criminals getting paid and nothing goes to the city at all. As of now, I think the U.S. is only focusing on winning the war in where the hell are we now (Iraq? Iran?) Why don't we just bring home those soldiers and end the damn war? Let's say we win the war, okay, what is our reward? "Wow, America is so great, America this, America that..." And while our nation is crumbling, we also let those innocent lives be lost so America can a have a good reputation. You know, sometimes, I just wanna ask the government, "Before we take care of unnecessary problems, why don't we try remodelling our nation, eh?" We could get great compliments out of that. But no, we are so in a hell of a debt we can never get rid off. Let's hope Obama can make some improvements.
- They look cool now. Wait another 10 or 20 years when they look ridiculous. We built modern buildings in the 1960s and 1970s. Most became laughingstocks by the end of the 1970s. Many have since been torn down.
- Because Americans are an "I want it now and as cheap as possible." people. I'm just as patriotic as the next person but American attitude really can rub me the wrong way a lot of times.
- They use mass produced stuff and Americans have no creativity. Statue of Liberty- A gift. Empire State- Architecture was 'inspired'. Space Needle- Based off of Kuala Lumpur's building. (Etc.)
