University of Texas or Texas Tech?

I'm thinking of pursuing a degree in architecture (perhaps landscape) but I'm having a difficult time deciding between these two schools. I understand that UT Austin has a better overall reputation as far as prestige goes; however, Texas Tech offers more architecture majors than UT. UT only has 'Architecture' whereas Tech has: landscape, interior, regular, and a couple more divisions. Does anyone have any input on which would serve me better? I've already checked academics and I'm in the top 2% of my class so I really doubt if meeting that standard will be an issue... at this point it's really just a choice of preference.

  1. Go with Tech. You'll be happier in an environment that is tailored to your degree.
  2. UT Hook Em Horns!!! I'm a major Longhorn fan, but if Tech offers more for what you are wanting, go for it! :)
  3. Have you thought of what kind of Architecture would you like to go in?. First, see if your GPA and test scores(and overall school record) will make it to either of those schools. Once you got that out of the way, you could start at either one of those schools as an undecided major.(cause, to be honest, you seem to be uncedided about it, really.)Besides, that'd let you explore deeper into every single Architecture type of degree that they offer. But if I were you, I'd choose Texas Tech. It has a far more respectable reputation. Besides, UT is not competitive.
  4. If you want to be an Architect and get accepted into UT you should jump on the chance. It is ranked in the top 10 for both undergrad and grad programs in architecture. A degree from UT School of Architecture carries a lot of prestige. i liked an article ranking the top US arch schools http://www.architectmagazine.com/industry-news.asp?sectionID=1006&articleID=602885
