Modern examples of Greek's influence on modern architecture?

I am a teacher trying to find modern examples of the ancient greeks influence on modern architecture. I can only think of a few (the ones in D.C.). Do you know of any other examples I can show my class? Thanks

  1. Many modern buildings have Greek columns - Ionic, Doric or Corinthian
  2. Look beyond the obvious ideas of columns to other things. How about the modern push of using clean white marble. Greece had a very clean and orderly look to it thanks to the marble they used in their work. They of course used it because it was a readily available building material. Today people use it cause they associate it with the high point of Greek culture which is considered refined, educated and high class. nearly any capital building will have signs of Greek influence as will the interiors of many large churches, specifically Catholic and depending on where you live Mormon Temples. Perhaps have your students look at the buildings around your town and see if they can pick out the Greek influence.
