- The Greek Revival dominated american architecture during the period 1818-1850. It was the first truly national style in the United States, found in all regions of the country. The popularity of the style was due to strong associations with classical tradition and democracy. The Greek Revival was very adapatable, and permeated all levels of building, from high to low. - Iam not american..but i can tellu from wathcing all american movies when the camera pans on especialy ..govemermnetal or justice houses..the biggest thign that sticks out and indetifies it as greek archticture is the humble .CORINTHIAN OR DORIC COLUUMS. SOME HAVE IONIAN COLUMS..BUT THAT IS THE MAIN FEATURE IN ALL THESE PUBLIC BUILDING.. ANOTHER THING IS ALL THOSE BUILDIGN U WIL FIND A BIG.. OMPHALOUS.. AS IN DOME.. OR OPEING ABOVE.. .USALLY IN THE CENTE OF THE BUIDIGN SUCH AS THE DOME OF THE WHITE HOUSE IS ONE....
