Could someone explain to me the concept of "post-modernism?"?
I've heard this term a lot. Sometimes people say "Po-Mo" for short. People use it to describe all sorts of things, from art, to architecture, to literature, to philosophy, etc. In and of itself, I suppose it just means "after modernism." However, I suppose I am asking, what are some post-modern aesthetics or values? Oh, and when exactly did we arrive at the "post-modern" era, would you say?

- Post modernism is a movement among all the arts where pretty much you forget function and everything is about form, innovation, and being as weird as possible. Post modernism art might be pennies glued to the floor of a gallery (I've seen it done), an example of post modern literature is erasure poetry, where you take an already existing work and erase words from it to make it different. As far as aesthetics and values, the most I can tell you is that you pretty much forget every traditional value of art and do something completely different, with a b.s. answer as to why you did it that way.
- This causes confusion because "modern" is an adjective and "modernism" is a form or style of art. There was a form of art called "modernist" that covered a period of time that some consider existed from 1860's to 1970's. I don't think that is necessarily correct but that doesn't matter for the purpose of this answer. Post-modernism is a newer and different form of art. As far as aesthetics or values go, I am no expert. *
