- There are a lot of online sites and images dealing with Gothic architecture, and many useful books. These often discuss the religious, spiritual milieu in which Gothic art and architecture developed, and presumably you have been talking about this subject in class. I'm giving you three sites; you can find more. A classic book that is still worth reading is Erwin Panofsky's "Gothic Architecture and Scholasticism: An Inquiry into the Analogy of the Arts, Philosophy, and Religion in the Middle Ages." You will also want to read material on the medieval religion and culture in general. Sorry, but that's the only way for you to learn and complete this assignment.
