Should I move to LA to study film?
I am currently in my second semester of my freshman year at Oklahoma State University majoring in Landscape Architecture. I have always wanted to study film/cinematography and possibly do something in the movie business whether it be act, produce, direct, manage, etc...I'm not really that driven to do Landscape Architecture as I am with film, because film is my real passion. My current plan is to finish up this next semester of college, then transfer to a community college in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area that takes part in the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP), finish out there and then transfer to UCLA and major in film. What do you think of this plan? Does it sound reasonable? What advice would you give to me? ANY feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

- Without a doubt, do it! You'll be so glad you did. Even if you struggle financially (if it's inevitable), you will feel fulfilled and ecstatic to be creating art. I love the idea of film-making but my thing is writing. I do have quite a few screenplay ideas though but I'll write them in novel form before I worry about screenplays. There are so many opportunities for you to build your reputation as a filmmaker long before you graduate, such as the 48-Hour Film Festival that occurs internationally every month and a host of websites that feature amateur film shorts. Jump in, I say, mate. Don't waste another semester!
- If you move to LA to "study film", your probable career path consists of extended engagements as Ronald McDonald in clown suit, selling videos to parents at Birthday Parties. If you let the kids honk your red rubber nose, you earn bigger tips. Film Schools exist only to provide salaries for film schools professors. This is made possible by an endless supply of gullible, starry-eyed suckers who attend and pay tuition. Do not ask your parents to fund your fantasies.
