Which career has more options and is more profitable: Culinary Arts, Software Engineering or Architecture?

Public Comments

  1. Probably software engineering, in this economy.
  2. I'm not sure what options you would consider the 'best'. As for ease of entry into a market culinary arts would take less capital. The start up time could be short but failure could be swift as well. The product would also set the terms for the ROI. Software engineers usually do not and can not work for themselves to start. It takes some time to evolve and the return for a new product usually has to be shared with the employer. However the employer usually absorbs the costs of R & D. Architects usually have to start as employees of others like engineers. Very few make it as the owners of their own firms. Each sale has a different product but it offers a creative outlet.
  3. It depends on how good you are and how much you enjoy doing it. Software engineering may seem to be the most lucrative but if you're not good at it and you barely got through school, you will soon wash out. People should not choose careers based on how much they pay because there are a lot of people out there who get paid very well but hate their jobs. Hating what you do causes stress and will affect other areas of your life.
