How important is drawing ability in Landscape Architecture?
or is it all done on the computer now?

- it is imperative to understand and be able to master the concepts of drawing, you will need to be able to draw if as a landscape architect you are out on site making sketches for reference on your projects
- Architecture can be done on paper or on computer. It just depends on how you want to do it. Some prefer one over the other. Drawing is incredibly important either way. What happens if you draw a column out of proportion? You could end up with a slanted awning! So it is important to have good drawing skills; which can be easily aided by tools such as a ruler and a protractor.
- Greg, Drawing is important in landscape architecture. You will also need AutoCADD and maybe MiniCADD for projects. PhotoShop and Bryce may be part of the program, too. That will depend on where you go to school. To get ahead of the game in drawing, take some classes before you begin college. You will also learn drafting in college. How much drawing you do in your career will depend partly on how much you love it, and more on who you work for. Each practice is a little different.
