What types of 'green' jobs are there?

I'm really big into being environmentally friendly, and I'm thinking about whether or not I'd like to make a career out of something like that. My dad is an engineer, so of course he suggested Green Engineering/Architecture, but that's not really my thing. I'm not very good at math, either, and I'm pretty sure that you should be if you're an engineer. What other types of jobs are there in the green industry?

  1. Botanist, they are amazing people that help in growing and developing plant life. Florists, they are always working with flowers, which are part of the going green environment. Forest Ranger, they are out there to protect and clean the environment! Also, I have heard of jobs in Europe that have fantastic 'Going Green' jobs that you may want to check out. Hope I helped.
  2. There is a large market in English for people interested in pursuing professional writing careers. Personally, I am pursuing a degree (and a career) in editing geared towards environmental publications. If you like to write or edit literature that would be a great job. There is also the political side, the educational side, and there are thousands of industries such as textiles, logging, clothing, and various hobbies that are looking for people to guide them to more sustainable practices. If you're not good at math (And I'm not either, which is why I'm not pursuing Marine Biology!) I would recommend going for a public relations kind of job, or one rooted in English. You can always call companies you enjoy and ask if they have any recommendations.
